Xiaomi is set to launch the Xiaomi 12 Lite in the country, a 6.5-inch phone that packs a punch underneath a rather pretty design. We got to get our hands on one a few days back thanks to our friends from Unbox, and here’s what we think about it in our first look.

The design at the back? Pretty, even when it looks exactly like the flagship Xiaomi 12 or 12S series with some minor changes to boot. The unit’s in a lite pink colorway, which offers a gradation of lavender to pink and shines as you tilt the phone. The back part offers a protruding module at the upper-left part where the tri-flash and the triple-rear camera are placed, and the Xiaomi monogram at the lower left.
At the bottom part of the device are the dual SIM card tray, the microphone, the USB-C port, and the loudspeaker. The edges where these lay upon are chamfered with the flat offering a matte chrome finish. Sorry folks, no 3.5mm jack for wired audio is available so you’ll have to use a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter.
The right side has all the buttons for the physical operation. The volume key and the power/lock button offer a flat surface and protrude slightly above the sides.
We have a near-bezel-less front with a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a 32-megapixel selfie camera at the upper-middle punch hole. The bottom part has a wider bezel for better grip during landscape operation.
The phone is clearly an aesthetic that’s screaming to be showcased wherever you may be with its slim profile. It’s also lightweight that it does not hurt your hands when held for longer periods of time. It’s also sturdy in terms of construction since it’s mostly made of plastic, and the chamfered edge offers a better phone grip.
The 6.55-inch AMOLED display offers a bright, well-saturated view of the phone that can be viewed greatly even from any angle. The panel produces great contrast and a respectable sharpness given it’s at Full HD+ resolution.
You’re also looking at the latest MIUI iteration, which offers a cleaner, more responsive take along with some nifty features onboard. MIUI 13 is said to offer overhauls more at the back end, including more RAM usage efficiency and an advanced file management system that is said to make the phone feel good as new even when used after quite some time.
You’re getting three cameras at the back — a whopping 108-megapixel Samsung HM2 senor, plus two modules for ultrawide and macro photography. This also offers a whopping 67-watt fast charging on its 4300mAh battery capacity, which can
We’d love to test this device more as soon as we can get a unit soon. This phone is officially launching in the Philippines this month and includes a free Xiaomi Tyvek bag, a Xiaomi Vacuum Cup, a Xiaomi Gray Umbrella, and a Xiaomi notebook and pen when you pre-order from August 19 to 26, 2022. The phone will be sold for PHP 21,990 (6GB) and PHP 21,990 (8GB) starting August 27.
