Canon Philippines has launched a new line of cameras made especially for content creators: the Canon EOS R50 VCanon PowerShot V1.
The new models are part of the EOS / PowerShot V Series, a lineup focused on video and designed to support the growing needs of today’s digital creators.
Why it matters: With more Filipinos creating content for video-first platforms like TikTok, many still rely on smartphones that have limits in video quality. Canon saw this as a chance to offer creator-friendly cameras that give better image quality and control while being easy to use.
The launch was held at Midnight Dream Studios in Glorietta 1, where more than 100 media guests, influencers, and creators attended. Guests, including Farrah Espina, Liana of Art and Plan Studio, Karl Patacsil, Jo Escultura, and Gab Altonaga, were able to try out the new cameras in different themed setups such as livestreaming, podcasting, makeup tutorials, unboxing, food content, lifestyle, and video editing.

Jian Liu, Canon Philippines’ Director for Consumer Information and Imaging, said the cameras combine portability, simple controls, and powerful performance. “Whether they’re livestreaming or making short films, Filipinos can now tell their stories more confidently,” he shared.
What’s New in the EOS / PowerShot V Series: The EOS R50 V is built with a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor—similar to those used in cinema cameras. It supports 4K 60p livestreaming via USB-C, advanced noise reduction with a triple-microphone setup, and vertical shooting for social media. It has no viewfinder, making it easier to use with gimbals or when shooting handheld.
This camera pairs with the RF-S14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens, Canon’s first lens with built-in power zoom and 15 speed options for zoom control.

The PowerShot V1, Canon’s first compact camera focused purely on video, has a large 1.4-inch sensor and a built-in zoom lens (16–50mm).
It includes a 3-stop ND filter and image stabilization with subject tracking. It also has a built-in cooling fan, allowing creators to shoot for up to 6 hours.
Both cameras support 10-bit Canon Log 3 for color grading and come with features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and PC streaming.
