Western Union and GCash are offering a zero-transfer-fee promo for Filipinos in Hawaii who send money to GCash accounts in the Philippines. The offer will run until December 31, 2025 and can be availed through Western Union branches in Hawaii or via the app.

Why it Matters: Many Overseas Filipinos in Hawaii regularly send money to support their families in the Philippines. Removing transfer fees allows more of their earnings to reach their loved ones without deductions.
According to GCash International General Manager Paul Albano, the promo was created to support the Filipino community in Hawaii by making remittances easier and more accessible. He said the goal is to ensure that every dollar sent is fully received back home. Users in Hawaii can directly transfer money to GCash wallets without needing to pay any service charge.
The promo covers both in-store transactions and app-based transfers made through Western Union. It aims to help those sending money for bills, celebrations, or other important occasions. The companies also encourage users to check the official GCash website for more updates and other ongoing offers.
With many Filipinos relying on remittances for daily expenses, will more similar initiatives roll out in other countries soon?
