HoYoverse announced that Genshin Impact Version Luna III: Song of the Welkin Moon – Interlude will arrive on December 3. The update continues the story of Nod-Krai and introduces Moon-Prayer Night, a grand celebration that takes place before the Dameselette’s final night ahead of her journey to the moon.

Why it Matters: Genshin Impact continues to expand its in-game regions and storytelling as it enters another major chapter. New combat systems, character enhancements, and seasonal events may help retain veteran players while inviting new ones to explore Nod-Krai.
The version update features Durin as a new 5-star Pyro Sword playable character. Durin has dual combat forms and can be used either as a strong damage dealer or team support character. His abilities draw from two sources: Simulanka, which lowers enemy resistance and deals AoE Pyro damage, and Abyssal energy, which boosts damage on single targets. Completing his Story Quest will unlock more details about the dragon’s origins and provide a special reward.

Moon-Prayer Night will allow players to explore Nasha Town with festival games and a souvenir stamp book. Guest characters from the Hexenzirkel will also appear, including Alice and Nicole Reeyn, who warn of unstable borders and rising phantom threats in the region. Players will team up with Albedo, Durin, and the Wanderer to investigate these disturbances. Finishing the latest Archon Quest will grant limited-time 500 Primogems.

Version Luna III also introduces Hexerei characters. Durin, Venti, Klee, Albedo, Mona, Razor, Fischl, and Sucrose can gain new powers through special quests under Alice’s Witch’s Homework. Forming a team with at least two Hexerei characters will activate Hexerei: Secret Rite, a party-wide buff. The new gadget The Little Witch’s Dictionary will show enhancement details.

A new 4-star character named Jahoda joins the update as an Anemo Bow wielder with healing and elemental absorption abilities. The first phase of the Event Wishes will feature Durin, Jahoda, and Venti. The second phase will bring back Varesa and Xilonen.

The Soulblazers’ Snowbound Journey event will return players to Dragonspine with winter-themed minigames and rewards including a 4-star weapon called Rainbow Serpent’s Rain Bow. Silvermoon Hall in Nod-Krai will offer more quests and interactions with the Dameselette. New Envisage Echoes challenges will add Klee and Albedo echo rewards.

The Miliastra Wonderland UGC module will be updated with a new Wonderland Resource Center, allowing players to share and obtain resources using the editing tool. Additional rewards, fun actions, expressions, and free pulls will be available, along with a winter-themed Main Hall.
Genshin Impact Version Luna III will launch on December 3 with cross-progression and co-op support across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Android, and iOS. The game is rated T for Teen on PS5, Xbox, PC, and Google Play, and 12+ on iOS.
