nubia Music Pro Review: Extra Louder

Can a Phone Replace Your Speaker? This is exactly the kind of moment nubia seems to have imagined when creating the nubia Music Pro, a music-centric phone designed for people who want to share sound as much as they consume it.

With its vinyl-inspired design, speaker system that claims to be up to six times louder than a regular phone, and the ability to double as a Bluetooth speaker, the nubia Music Pro is built to blur the line between a smartphone and an entertainment device. But can it truly deliver that kind of hybrid experience without sacrificing the basics we expect from a phone? Let’s find out.

Design and Construction

The nubia Music Pro makes its intentions clear from the moment you see it. The upper back panel looks like the platter of a vinyl record player, complete with a stylus-shaped LED ring that pulses in sync with your music.

We got the Pop Art variant, with its bright, blocky retro-modern palette. It’s very reminiscent of the nubia Music phone we got earlier this year. Both lean into a playful, expressive aesthetic, the kind you’d expect from a device that calls itself “Music Pro.”

In the hand, it feels solid despite being mostly plastic. Measuring 165.6mm tall, 76.15mm wide, and 8.2mm thick, it’s about average for a phone with a large display, though the top-heavy feel from the speaker module is noticeable.

The side-mounted fingerprint reader works quickly, and having both USB-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack is a welcome choice for users who still prefer wired audio.

It’s not just designed to look like a music gadget, as it’s designed to behave like one, down to the pulsating LED and speaker grille taking center stage.

Display and Audio

The 6.7-inch HD+ display runs at a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Resolution tops out at 1600×720, which isn’t as sharp as many other modern devices, but colors are decent and brightness is adequate for indoor and most outdoor use. Scrolling, animations, and app transitions benefit from the high refresh rate, making everyday use feel snappy.

Audio is where the nubia Music Pro shifts from “just another phone” to something more distinctive. The 2.1-channel setup uses three full-range speakers, giving it both volume and a sense of stereo separation that’s unusual for a handset. According to nubia, the output is up to 600% louder than standard phones, peaking at 95dB. In practice, that’s loud enough to fill a room, and even outdoor gatherings can get away without a separate Bluetooth speaker.

DTS:X Ultra processing adds a layer of virtual surround, and spatial audio is available with compatible headphones. The audio-dedicate apps add a new touch to how you do loudspeaker music listening with a mobile device. Bluetooth Loudspeaker mode turns the phone into a wireless speaker for other devices, which is more useful than it sounds—you can play music from a friend’s phone without pairing to your earbuds or switching SIMs.

FM loudspeaker playback lets you listen to radio without an internet connection, and the AI Melody Breathing Light adds visual flair with seven colors syncing to your audio. You can also connect with other nubia Music Pro phones to create a seamless congregation of loudspeakers blasting the same tune at the same time.

This isn’t “good for a phone.” It’s legitimately loud enough to compete with small portable speakers, though serious audiophiles will still find the bass less deep than dedicated gear.

Camera

The nubia Music Pro isn’t pitched as a camera-first phone, but its 50MP rear sensor with f/1.8 aperture holds its own in good lighting. Shots are sharp and vibrant, with decent dynamic range.

nubia’s Neovision AI suite offers useful extras: lightning-fast capture for quick moments, AI Image Dehaze for clearer shots in haze or mist, Magic Eraser to remove distractions, Blur for instant portrait effects, and Sky mode for tweaking the look of your backgrounds.

In low light, detail drops and noise creeps in, but for casual social media posts, the results are still usable. The 5MP front camera is serviceable for video calls and casual selfies, though it won’t wow you with sharpness or depth handling.

Taking videos at maximum 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second delivers decent videos you can share on social media, but do note that it does not enough stabilization to make them less shaky.

Performance

Under the hood, the Unisoc T7200 octa-core 1.6GHz processor, paired with up to 8GB of dynamic RAM, handles everyday use without drama. Apps open at a reasonable pace, multitasking is smooth for light to moderate use, and media playback is stable. The 128GB of storage (expandable via microSD) is generous, especially if you keep a large music library offline.

Connectivity covers most needs: dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, VOLTE, NFC, and a headphone jack. NFC here isn’t just for payments—it can instantly trigger a playlist, share a track to another nubia Music device, or even unlock NFC-enabled doors. Live Island 2.0, nubia’s take on a dynamic notifications panel, offers quick access to calls, timers, and music controls without jumping between apps.

On the software side, Android U runs with minimal bloatware. The UI is straightforward, with enough room for customization without being cluttered. Performance isn’t on flagship level, but it’s tuned well for the phone’s media-first personality. It can still multitask and even play Mobile Legends: Bang Bang at up to medium settings without much frame stutters or lags.

Battery and Charging

With a 5000mAh battery, the nubia Music Pro handles a full day of heavy use—loudspeaker playback included—without forcing you to reach for a charger before bed. Moderate users can stretch it to a day and a half.

The compromise is in charging speed. At 10W, it’s slow compared to the fast-charging standards many have gotten used to, taking a bit over two hours from empty to full. While this might be a downside for some, it’s offset by the fact that the phone doesn’t drain excessively even when used as a portable speaker for hours.

The Rundown

So, is the nubia Music Pro really the loudest phone you can carry? For most people, yes—at least in the sense that it can replace a small portable speaker for casual listening, group hangouts, or outdoor use. It’s fun to use, unapologetically styled for music lovers, and packed with features that make it more than just a novelty, like Bluetooth Loudspeaker mode, FM playback, and NFC music sharing.

That being said, the HD+ display won’t impress pixel peepers, the cameras are average in low light, and the charging speed feels outdated. But as a phone that doubles as a speaker, it’s in a class of its own.

The nubia Music Pro is now available for PHP 4,299 at nubia Stores and Kiosks and authorized dealers nationwide, and online at the nubia Official Store on Lazada, Shopee, and Tiktok.
