realme is launching the 4G version of the realme 9, the newest entry into the brand’s number series featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, a 6.4-inch display, and a 108-megapixel rear triple camera setup. Here’s how it looks from the get-go in our first look.

Unboxing the device reveals what you can expect in the package when it launches later this month — the phone itself, some documentation for warranty and user guide, the card tray ejector, a clear TPU case, a USB-C cable, and the 33-watt charging adapter.
Our unit comes in the Sunburst Gold finish, which is quite the first for the series as they usually lean on white, blue, or black hues in past iterations. It’s visually striking and can be a head-turner with its ripple-like refraction design akin to sand or water.
Let’s go over its ports. On the right side is the power and lock button popping out of the chamfered frame. It’s also golden, albeit a bit muted compared to its more vivid back.
The volume keys and the card tray are situated on the left side. The volume buttons are placed near the middle, in aid for better reach in a one-hand operation.
At the bottom, we have the usual realme signature layout of the 3.5mm audio jack, the microphone, the USB-C port, and the mono loudspeaker grille.
The front part has the 6.48-inch AMOLED display, the 16-megapixel camera at the upper-left corner, the call speaker at the upper edge, and the in-display fingerprint scanner. It’s nice to see realme still retaining the good features of its predecessors, as we’ve seen in the realme 8.
Let’s turn back again for the cameras. The protruding part reminds us of a similar layout from the realme 9 Pro+, albeit this time we’re getting a 108-megapixel Samsung HM6 sensor as its primary lens. We took some initial quick photos but most seem to have this sort of bluish tint. There’s an update for the realme UI 3 with camera enhancements as we connected it for the first time, so we’ll see about that too.
