LG launches UltraGear evo premium gaming monitor brand ahead of CES 2026

LG Electronics has announced the global launch of UltraGear evo, a new premium gaming monitor brand set to debut at CES 2026. The lineup focuses on 5K and 5K2K gaming displays across OLED, New MiniLED, and ultra-wide formats, positioning high-resolution gaming as the core of the brand.

Why it Matters: As GPUs and games continue to evolve at different speeds, higher-resolution monitors risk being limited by hardware requirements. LG’s move to integrate on-device AI upscaling highlights a shift toward display-side processing to make ultra-high-resolution gaming more accessible.

Central to the UltraGear evo brand is LG’s new on-device AI solution, which enables what the company describes as the world’s first 5K AI Upscaling technology. The system enhances lower-resolution content in real time to near-5K clarity without requiring GPU upgrades. The AI suite also includes scene optimization and AI Sound for improved visuals and audio.

The initial UltraGear evo lineup includes three flagship models: the 39-inch 39GX950B, the 27-inch 27GM950B, and the 52-inch 52G930B. All three monitors share a focus on high resolution combined with fast refresh rates and immersive form factors.

The 39GX950B is a 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor with a 21:9 curved display. It uses LG’s Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology and supports Dual Mode switching between 165Hz at 5K2K and 330Hz at WFHD, paired with a 0.03ms response time. The display carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.

The 27GM950B is positioned as the world’s first 27-inch 5K New MiniLED gaming monitor. It features 2,304 local dimming zones designed to reduce blooming, along with Dual Mode support for 165Hz at 5K and 330Hz at QHD. Peak brightness reaches up to 1,250 nits, with VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification.

Rounding out the lineup is the 52G930B, described by LG as the world’s largest 5K2K gaming monitor. The 52-inch display runs at up to 240Hz and uses a wide 12:9 format with a 1000R curve, offering a workspace wider than standard UHD monitors. It is certified for VESA DisplayHDR 600.

LG said the UltraGear evo lineup will be showcased at CES 2026, alongside themed demo zones and racing simulations. The company also confirmed that the UltraGear GX7, a 27-inch QHD OLED monitor with up to 540Hz refresh rate, will go on sale globally on the opening day of the show.

With 5K gaming displays becoming more varied in size and technology, will ultra-high resolution finally move beyond niche setups in the gaming market?
