Home Credit Philippines held its first AI in UX Fintech Hackathon in partnership with KadaKareer, marking a new step in its technology and talent development efforts.

Why it Matters: Hackathons focused on artificial intelligence and user experience help bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry demands, especially as fintech companies adopt more AI-powered systems in their operations.
The nationwide competition gathered more than 400 students and fresh graduates from over 60 schools across more than 15 provinces. Participants were tasked to design AI-driven solutions for real-world fintech case studies, aiming to connect classroom learning with practical application.
The program offered mentorship from Home Credit experts and KadaKareer coaches, along with guidance on structured pitching and solution development. Organizers said the setup was designed to mirror real industry conditions and prepare participants for technology-focused roles.
After the initial rounds, the top 10 teams advanced to the finals held at Home Credit’s head office in Bonifacio Global City on December 11. Three teams, composed of 14 students in total, were named winners. Aside from recognition, they were also granted guaranteed internship slots under the company’s talent development program.
Company leaders, including President and CEO David Minol, Deputy CEO Teeraphong Mahatham, Chief Information Officer Susan Ong, and Head of Collections Technology, AI, and Delivery Rahul Sharma, attended the event. Executives emphasized that innovation depends not only on tools but also on people who can apply technology responsibly and creatively.
KadaKareer supported the initiative by engaging students from different academic institutions and regions. The organization said the partnership gave participants exposure to real business challenges and a clearer understanding of industry expectations.
Home Credit Philippines is licensed and supervised by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. With fintech companies increasing their focus on AI, will more firms open similar platforms to help students gain hands on industry experience?
