Nikon has introduced the COOLPIX P1100, a compact digital camera featuring an extreme 125x optical zoom, reaching up to a 3000mm equivalent. Designed for super-telephoto photography, it offers improved usability and connectivity for capturing distant subjects like birds and celestial bodies.
Why it matters: The COOLPIX P1100 provides an affordable and compact alternative to DSLR and mirrorless cameras with telephoto lenses, making it easier for photographers to capture faraway subjects without bulky gear.
The P1100 supports 4K UHD/30p video recording and includes features like Dual Detect Optical VR for reducing camera shake, Bird-Watching and Moon modes for optimized shooting, and a focus mode selector for quick adjustments. It also introduces enhancements such as a Fireworks mode for long-exposure shooting and compatibility with Nikon’s RAW format (.NRW).
Additional features include a 3.2-inch vari-angle LCD, USB Type-C support, Clean HDMI output, and compatibility with the ML-L7 Remote Control and DF-M1 Dot Sight for improved composition. The point and shoot camera also features up to 600 times digital zoom in case the 125x optical zoom ain’t enough.
The Nikon COOLPIX P1100 will be available in late February 2025 in the US for $1,099.95 (~PHP 63,900).
