Converge has announced a temporary nationwide speed increase for its fiber broadband users, as rising fuel costs influence how Filipinos work and stay connected.

Why it Matters: As commuting costs rise, more Filipinos may rely on staying at home for work, school, and daily activities. Reliable and faster internet becomes more important in supporting these shifts, especially for digital services and communication.
“This initiative aims to empower customers to stay productive, connected, and informed as more Filipinos choose — or are compelled — to stay at home as rising fuel costs affect commuting and household budgets,” said Dennis Anthony Uy.
Starting April 1 until April 30, 2026, the Pampanga-originated ISP will provide a free 50 Mbps speed boost to both existing and new subscribers. The move is positioned as part of efforts to support households facing higher transportation and living expenses, and will be automatically applied to all FiberX users nationwide.
Uy said the move aligns with calls from Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Henry Aguda to help ease the impact of higher oil prices. “In response to the call of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda to help ease the burden of rising oil prices to our people, Converge is stepping in by enabling faster, more reliable Internet access — at no additional cost to our subscribers,” he said.
The company said the speed increase is meant to support remote work, online learning, and access to digital services as mobility becomes more costly. “By boosting Internet speeds, we are ensuring that our customers can continue to work, study, run businesses, and stay connected with loved ones without disruption. The faster speeds allow smoother video calls, faster downloads, and improved streaming quality,” Uy said.
“We are also strengthening digital access as customers can access telehealth services, e-commerce platforms, digital banking, and government services more seamlessly with the speed boost,” he added.
The temporary upgrade will automatically apply to eligible FiberX users during the promo period. Will similar initiatives follow as fuel prices continue to affect daily expenses?
