Today I was reminded why you need to buy official phones in the Philippines – you deserve the aftersales service you want to happen.

You know that feeling when your phone starts acting like it’s in a K-drama? Mine did. My OPPO Reno 13 suddenly decided to serve “main character in a rain scene” energy, with the camera fogging up, photos all soft and mysterious, like it was trying to tell me it had feelings.
At first, I thought, okay maybe it’s just condensation, maybe I’ve been overusing portrait mode. I wiped the lens. Still foggy. Blew on it. Worse. Soaked in uncooked rice overight. No changes. Prayed to the tech gods. Nothing. My inner voice said, “Ay, probably water damage ‘yan!” So, off I went to the OPPO Service Center in Fairview Terraces, clutching my phone as if it were in critical condition.

When I got there, the staff checked it out and, plot twist: it wasn’t water damage at all. The technician explained that the phone was sealed so tightly that a bit of moisture got trapped inside and couldn’t escape. Basically, my Reno 13 was just too hydrated for its own good, probably even more than my skin.

The fix? A simple reseal. No parts replaced, no scary bills, no ‘come back next week‘. They even replaced my screen protector—free of charge. The whole process took less than an hour, just enough time for me to enjoy their free coffee and play a few rounds of the mini games they had in the waiting area. It was giving “tech repair lounge,” not “service center stress.”

I left with a crystal-clear camera, a new screen protector, and zero damage to my wallet. The experience was so smooth it almost felt suspicious.
That’s when it hit me: this is why you buy officially released units in the Philippines. When your phone decides to act way beyond what it should do or not what you expect like mine that became a tiny humidifier, your brands’s got your back, mostly for free, and with caffeine on the side.
