vivo V50 Lite 5G: Design and Construction

For a phone with such a large battery, the vivo V50 Lite 5G is surprisingly thin. At 7.79 mm and 197 grams, it avoids the bulky feel that most high-capacity battery phones have, but the normal user would feel the heaviness if they’re coming from another phone with a smaller battery capacity. It’s still a large phone overall, but the slimness and the diamond-textured curved back make it easier to hold for long periods.

Let’s look at the chrome-finished sides, which I hope vivo will soon ditch since they’re quite the fingerprint magnets. The bottom part has the Dual-SIM card slot (no microSD expansion here, sorry), a microphone, the USB-C port, and a bottom-firing loudspeaker.

The left side has protruding buttons for the volume keys, as well as the power and lock button.

Up atop are a small set of holes to assist the call speaker when it acts as a loudspeaker, and another microphone for active noise canceling.

Color choices are tastefully done. We got a look at the other colors (Black and Titanium Gold) at the launch the other day and they were equally as stunning as our Fantasy Purple colorway that combines soft purple and pink with feather-like shimmer under light. These finishes don’t just look nice—they also feel resistant to smudges and grease.

The overall construction is reinforced. You get SGS five-star drop protection, cushioning inside the frame, and scratch-resistant glass. The body is also IP65 and IP69 rated, meaning it can resist dust and water splashes. While vivo discourages water submersion demos, it’s reassuring for users who work outdoors, do deliveries, or live in flood-prone areas.

vivo V50 Lite 5G Review: Display and Audio

The 6.77-inch AMOLED screen on the vivo V50 Lite 5G offers a Full HD+ resolution and a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate. Its 94.2% screen-to-body ratio gives it a modern, immersive look—ideal for watching videos or gaming. Local peak brightness reaches up to 1300 nits, and it holds up well even under direct sunlight.

Colors are vibrant without being oversaturated, and there’s no major color shifting when viewed from different angles. Watching YouTube, Netflix, and TikTok is enjoyable. The animations look clean, and typing or navigating menus feels responsive, thanks to the high refresh rate.

For audio, you get stereo speakers with a maximum volume that vivo claims hits up to 400% as needed That’s obviously a marketing number, but the phone does get noticeably louder than most midrange models while sacrificing much of the clarity for louder volume. It’s a plus for those who often work outdoors or need to hear calls, music, or navigation instructions in noisy places.

vivo V50 Lite 5G: Camera

The vivo V50 Lite 5G is built around a practical but capable camera setup. The main shooter is a 50 MP Sony IMX882 sensor with a relatively large 1/1.95″ size, supported by an 8 MP ultra-wide lens. On the front is a 32 MP wide-angle selfie camera.

Image quality in daylight is clear and balanced, with good detail and minimal processing. Skin tones are usually accurate, and HDR works well when shooting with a bright background. My only gripe is that the camera viewfinder tends to be slower when you try to position your camera in fast action angles. While shooting is rapid, images can be blurry if you don’t focus fast between changing angles.

Where the phone really performs is in challenging lighting. Night shots or indoor party photos benefit from the Aura Light feature, which adds soft light to the subject without blowing out skin tones or making faces too pale or red. This is especially useful in restaurants, events, or karaoke bars where lighting isn’t ideal.

There’s also a 2x zoom portrait option built into the camera app. This isn’t an optical zoom, but the results are still surprisingly good for close-up shots of pets, kids, or friends during candid moments. The ultra-wide lens is handy for group photos but has a slight drop in sharpness toward the edges.

AI tools like AI Erase 2.0 (to remove photo bombers) and Photo Enhance (to fix old or blurry shots) are quick to use and integrated into the gallery app.

Video shots are just as great, though expect shakier shots than usual with a lack of OIS. You can record up to 1080p resultion at 60 frames per second, which can give you smooth results.

vivo V50 Lite 5G: Performance

The vivo V50 Lite 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6300, an 8-core chipset built on a 6 nm process. Our variant has 8 GB of RAM with an additional 8 GB of virtual memory and a 256GB usage that roughly translates to around 210GB of free space for your apps and files. It’s not built for heavy gaming, but for day-to-day apps, social media, camera usage, and casual games, it performs well.

In daily use, multitasking is smooth. Apps stay in memory longer, and switching between camera, browser, messaging apps, and videos is seamless. There are no signs of overheating or major slowdown during our usage. Gaming with MOBA titles such as Honor of Kings and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang prove to be seamless and lag-free even at higher settings, while you’d get some minimal frame issues with resource-heavy titles such as Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail.

Connectivity is stable. 5G works reliably in areas with decent coverage. GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi all performed without issues. The phone also includes AI SuperLink, which automatically switches network modes in tricky environments like elevators or basements. It’s subtle, but helpful.

Funtouch OS 15, based on Android 15, runs the show. It’s clean, customizable, and snappy. Features like AI Translate, Circle to Search, and Live Text extraction are integrated naturally and actually useful—especially for students or those doing remote work or travel.

vivo V50 Lite 5G: Battery and Charging

This is undeniably the vivo V50 Lite 5G’s biggest strength. The 6500 mAh battery can easily last a day and a half for moderate users. On a single charge, we got up to:

  • around 9 hours of continuous Mobile Legends gaming
  • more than 17 hours of YouTube viewing
  • one and a half day of casual social use, camera, and navigation combined, with connectivity switching between WiFi and 5G mobile data.

When the battery runs low, the 90W FlashCharge fills it back up fast. vivo claims 50% in 20 minutes and 100% in under an hour. In our testing, that held up pretty nicely. It’s convenient if you’re in a rush or heading out with just a few minutes to spare.

There’s also reverse charging support through USB-C. You can use the V50 Lite 5G to top up your earbuds or a friend’s phone, provided you have the right cable.

Another feature worth noting: vivo says the battery retains 80% capacity after 1700 full charge cycles—roughly five years of regular use. This makes it a solid pick for long-term users.
