Globe, DICT Strengthen Collaboration to Fight Fraud and Scams

Globe and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create a stronger, integrated framework against fraud, scams, and other ICT-related crimes.

Why it matters: The partnership ensures closer cooperation between Globe and DICT, along with its attached agencies—the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the National Privacy Commission (NPC), and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC)—to protect Filipinos from identity theft, phishing, SMS scams, and other digital threats.

DICT Secretary Henry Aguda emphasized the role of public-private collaboration in building a trusted digital ecosystem. “Connectivity should not be an afterthought, but a built-in part of how we design and build the future. With partners like Globe, we are taking steps toward a future where every Filipino is connected and empowered. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to collective action against fraud and protecting people online.”

Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz highlighted the company’s dedication to digital trust. “Connectivity must go hand in hand with safety and trust. Our partnership with DICT strengthens our defenses against fraudsters exploiting digital channels. By combining resources and expertise with the government, we are creating stronger safeguards for Filipinos and ensuring technology remains a force for good.”

The MOU takes effect immediately and will run for two years, with possible renewal. Both parties will conduct regular reviews to improve the framework’s effectiveness and responsiveness to evolving digital threats.

Through this collaboration, Globe and DICT aim to set a benchmark for industry-government partnerships, advancing digital trust and creating a safer online environment for all Filipinos.
