Grab has introduced new AI-powered features at its annual event, aiming to make its superapp a more intelligent everyday guide for users across Southeast Asia. The update covers services for consumers, travellers, merchants, and driver-partners, all powered by its expanding AI infrastructure.

Why it Matters: These updates show how Grab is moving beyond ride-hailing and delivery into a more integrated platform, using AI to reduce manual tasks and simplify everyday decisions for users in the region.
The new features are grouped into three areas: Local Life, Effortless Travel, and Business Empowerment. For consumers, Group Ride allows up to four users to share a vehicle with coordinated pickups and split fares. Grab More lets users combine orders from nearby merchants without extra delivery fees, while the Grab AI Assistant works as a built-in concierge that can recommend food, plan activities, or build shopping carts using text, voice, or images.
GrabMaps for Consumers expands navigation with route comparisons, real-time parking availability, EV charger locations, and indoor maps for malls and buildings. Cash Loan also adds in-app access to credit using AI-based assessments, targeting users with limited financial history.
For travel, Personalised Travel Experience provides reminders for flight details, documents, and airport navigation. GrabStays enables hotel bookings through a partner platform, while Discover by Grab surfaces food recommendations based on user preferences and community content. GrabPay for Travel allows QR-based payments across Southeast Asia without needing separate e-wallets.
For merchants and drivers, Grab introduced new tools to improve operations. Virtual Store Manager uses AI and CCTV systems to monitor store activity such as hygiene and staffing. Cloud Printer automates order handling between front counters and kitchens, while Tap to Pay turns smartphones into contactless payment terminals. Driver AI Assistant provides voice-based support to help drivers manage trips and tasks more efficiently.
All features are powered by Grab’s Intelligence Layer, which uses data from over 20 billion rides and transactions to generate real-time insights and automate processes. Grab also expanded its Early Access Programme to 200,000 users, adding a new “shake and share” feature for faster feedback submission. To join, register on the GrabX website.
With these updates, Grab is positioning its app as a more central tool for daily life across Southeast Asia. Which of these features do you think will be most useful for you?
