Why It Matters: This partnership shows how phone and car makers are working closer together in the AI era. It could make connected cars more common, where devices and vehicles communicate in real time for convenience and safety.

The deal was signed by HONOR CEO James Li and BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu. Both sides will work on new tech features like digital car keys, Bluetooth connectivity, and cross-device AI integration.

HONOR and BYD first worked together in 2023 with phone-based car keys. The partnership later added fast charging in 2024. This year, DENZA became the first car brand to use HONOR’s Car Connect system, with more BYD models expected to follow.

Li said HONOR’s goal is to blend technology with human needs through AI. “Together with BYD, we want to make mobility smarter and more connected,” he said.

Both companies will continue developing phone-to-car systems and other smart mobility features that improve convenience and security. Their joint work will also be shown at the 2025 HONOR Global Developers Conference on October 23, where HONOR plans to highlight its AI Connect platform.

Do you think more car brands will start using smartphone-based connectivity soon?ctivity will become the new standard for smart mobility?
