Mobvoi launches TicNote AI voice recorder in the Philippines

Mobvoi Inc., the global AI technology company known for its Wear OS-powered TicWatch lineup, has officially introduced Mobvoi TicNote in the Philippines. The launch event gathered members of the local media, technology and productivity creators, and young AI educators from TikTok, highlighting the product’s positioning for both professional and creator-focused use.

Why it Matters: As work becomes increasingly hybrid and information-heavy, professionals are dealing with scattered notes, long meetings, and growing volumes of digital content. Devices like TicNote reflect a shift toward AI-assisted tools that aim to not only capture information, but also help users understand, organize, and act on it more efficiently.

TicNote is positioned as more than a standard voice recorder. It is powered by Shadow, a built-in AI agent designed to provide context-aware assistance across recordings, documents, and ongoing projects. According to Mobvoi, the goal is to move beyond simple transcription and offer users a tool that can help organize ideas, surface insights, and support long-term work.

During the event, Mobvoi co-founder Xie Fuqiang shared the company’s vision for TicNote, emphasizing its role as an active productivity companion rather than a passive recording device.

TicNote features a slim, credit card-sized form factor with MagSafe compatibility, making it easy to carry and attach to supported devices. It includes a small display for quick status checks and uses noise-cancellation technology to maintain clear audio in meetings, calls, and other busy environments.

The device supports dual recording modes for meetings, voice notes, and phone calls. Privacy is built into the system by default, with Mobvoi stating that user data security was a core consideration in its design.

In terms of hardware capability, TicNote supports up to 25 hours of continuous recording and comes with 64GB of internal storage. Users also get unlimited cloud backup, aimed at ensuring recordings remain accessible across different work setups.

At the center of TicNote’s experience is Shadow, the integrated AI agent that works across recordings, files, and projects. Shadow is designed to improve over time as users record more content and upload additional documents.

Key features enabled by Shadow include automatic transcription, summaries, and translations in over 100 languages, as well as tools for asking questions or exploring complex topics based on existing recordings and notes. Users can also quickly capture random ideas, which Shadow stores and organizes for future reference.

Shadow supports deeper research by working across uploaded files such as transcripts, notes, DOCX documents, and PDFs, while also drawing from online resources to improve accuracy. Another feature, called Aha Moments, is designed to proactively surface insights by connecting ideas across different projects and files.

Unlike traditional recorders that treat files as standalone items, TicNote is built around a project-based structure. Users can group related recordings and documents into projects, allowing Shadow to build context over time.

Mobvoi says this approach helps improve the relevance and accuracy of AI-generated outputs, including summaries and research reports, since they are informed by a broader understanding of a user’s ongoing work and goals.

The TicNote system is powered by multiple large language models, including GPT-4o, GPT-4o-mini, and DeepSeek-R1. These models handle tasks such as transcription, summarization, analysis, and research, enabling advanced AI features within a portable hardware device.

With AI-powered productivity tools becoming more common, will devices like TicNote change how Filipino professionals capture and organize their daily work?
