OPPO has officially introduced ColorOS 16, its newest version of the Android-based operating system that enhances creativity, productivity, and everyday use through AI-driven features. The update debuts with the Find X9 Series and will roll out to more OPPO devices in the coming months.

Why it matters: ColorOS 16 integrates artificial intelligence across imaging, writing, and organization tools, making it easier for users to capture ideas, edit media, and stay organized.
ColorOS 16 brings a full suite of AI tools designed to make photo and video editing simpler. AI Portrait Glow improves low-light portraits by adjusting brightness and skin tones. Other tools include AI Eraser for removing unwanted objects, AI Unblur for clearer moving shots, AI Reflection Remover for shooting through glass, and AI Clarity Enhancer that upscales low-resolution photos.

The built-in video editor now supports Master Cut, which allows trimming, speed control, music integration, cropping, text, and manual adjustments for contrast, brightness, and saturation.
ColorOS 16 also delivers smoother and faster performance through its redesigned architecture. The new Luminous Rendering Engine improves system fluidity by 40 percent in tap response and 52 percent in scrolling stability. It works together with the Trinity Engine, which manages chip-level resources for consistent performance. The system’s Chip-Level Dynamic Frame Sync feature improves animation stability while lowering power use during multitasking, while Sensor Offload helps reduce power drain during 4K video recording.

The company also announced that ColorOS 16 will deliver this improved responsiveness across all device tiers. Through its “Project Breeze” initiative, OPPO aims to bring flagship-level smoothness even to entry-level phones.
For productivity, ColorOS 16 introduces a more capable AI Recorder that transcribes speech in real time, labels speakers, and generates summaries automatically. Users can share the transcript, summary, or audio depending on their needs. Meanwhile, AI Writer assists users in drafting or refining content in system and third-party apps like Notes, Instagram, and Facebook, and can even create spreadsheets or mind maps for organizing ideas.

A key new feature is AI Mind Space, which serves as a hub for storing and organizing captured content. With a three-finger swipe or a tap on the Snap Key (on supported devices like the Find X9 Series), users can save what’s on screen directly to Mind Space, where related items are grouped automatically. It can also detect details from posters or documents using the camera and suggest actions like adding events to the calendar.
In collaboration with Google, OPPO now integrates Gemini with Mind Space. This allows Gemini to access saved content and generate personalized outputs such as trip itineraries based on collected articles or notes.

ColorOS 16 is built on OPPO’s goal of blending intelligence into daily life, offering a system that feels intuitive, reliable, and useful across both creative and practical tasks.
It will be shipped first with the newly-announced OPPO Find X9 and will first roll out to OPPO’s recent devices starting this November, including the Find X8 and X8 Pro, Find N5, Find N3, and the Reno14 Series, followed by the Find N2 Flip and Reno13 Series in December. Older models such as the Find X5 Pro, Reno12 Series, and Reno11 Series are scheduled to receive the update in early 2026.
