Samsung Electronics has introduced the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition, a special version of its foldable smartphone designed exclusively for athletes competing at the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. The device will be distributed to nearly 3,800 Olympians and Paralympians from around 90 countries and will support them throughout their Games experience.

Why it Matters: Athlete-focused technology at major sporting events shows how mobile devices are becoming part of official ceremonies, daily village life, and athlete storytelling, expanding the digital side of the Olympic experience.

The Olympic Edition will be used during official podium ceremonies through the Victory Selfie feature, which will make its Winter Olympics debut at Milano Cortina 2026. For the first time, it will also expand to team sport competitions, allowing more athletes to document their victory moments from their own perspective.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 features a dual rear camera system with a 50MP Wide and 12MP Ultra Wide lens. It integrates Galaxy AI with an edge-to-edge FlexWindow display and supports features such as Now Brief for personalized updates, Photo Assist for AI-based image editing, and an on-device Interpreter for real-time translation without requiring a network connection.
Samsung said the Olympic Edition carries a signature blue back glass inspired by the Milano Cortina 2026 identity and Italian azure, paired with a custom gold metal frame. The device also comes with a clear magnet case accented by gold laurel leaves and Olympic-themed wallpapers designed for the Winter Games.

Athletes will receive a pre-loaded suite of apps and services, including the Galaxy Athlete Card for digital profile exchange, a 100GB 5G eSIM for connectivity, digital passes in Samsung Wallet such as a Coca Cola Free Beverage Key, and the Athlete365 platform integrated into Now Brief for performance and mental health resources.

Samsung will distribute the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition at Olympic Villages across six cities starting January 30. On-site support will be available through Samsung Open Station to assist athletes with device activation and technical concerns.
With smartphones now embedded into medal ceremonies and athlete storytelling, how will this shape the way fans experience the Winter Games in 2026?
