Smart Communications has introduced KiQ, a new fully app-based mobile service that allows users to personalize their plans and control their mobile experience. KiQ is the first of its kind in the country and among the few in the world to offer this type of service.

Why it Matters: KiQ targets the growing demand for digital-first, self-service mobile solutions among Gen Z users in the Philippines. It offers flexible plan options, QR-less eSIM activation, and a network experience that prioritizes connectivity in high-traffic areas.
Through the KiQ app, subscribers can adjust their data allocation, add or remove calls and texts, set the validity period of their plan, and even choose their own mobile number. The service is powered by a slider interface that enables quick adjustments based on user needs.
KiQ also introduces Smart’s QR-less eSIM activation. Instead of scanning a code from an email, users can simply download and activate the eSIM directly from the app. Registration is completed once, after which the personalized plan becomes active.
The service offers prioritized network access in busy locations like concerts, malls, campuses, and city centers to maintain stable connections during peak usage times.
To start, customers need to download the KiQ app from Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, purchase a KiQ eSIM for PHP99, and complete the in-app registration process.
With its launch, Smart aims to offer a more customizable and convenient mobile experience for younger, tech-savvy Filipinos.
Do you think more telcos in the Philippines will follow this app-based service model?
