Why it Matters: As smartphones handle more AI-driven tasks and high refresh rate displays, battery capacity and thermal management are becoming key factors for long daily use.

Slim design with large battery: The TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G features an 8000mAh battery, which is 2500mAh larger than the previous generation. Despite the large capacity, the device measures 7.42mm thin and weighs 195g.

It is equipped with a curved AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals. The phone is available in Melting Silver, Storm Titanium, and Mystic Purple.

For durability, the device carries IP64 dust and water resistance, SGS-certified 1.5-meter drop protection, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

Performance and connectivity: The POVA Curve 2 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G processor, designed to handle gaming, streaming, and multitasking. It supports 45W fast charging and bypass charging technology to help manage heat during extended use.

TECNO states that the battery is TÜV SÜD certified for long battery life and is engineered to operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C.

The device also includes dual signal enhancement chipsets to improve cellular and WiFi performance in weak or crowded areas. It supports offline voice, text, and image communication for up to 1.5 kilometers in open areas.

AI features with HiOS 16: Running on HiOS 16, the POVA Curve 2 5G integrates system-level AI tools such as content summarization, writing assistance, call noise reduction, and photo enhancement.

Additional features include One tap FlashMemo for capturing and summarizing on-screen information, Mind Hub for organizing AI-generated content, and the Ella Assistant for voice-based interactions. The device also includes locally relevant AI functions such as Muslim prayer reminders.

Long-term support and availability: TECNO confirmed that the POVA Curve 2 5G will support two major Android OS upgrades. The device will launch in India in February 2026, with pricing and full specifications to be announced at that time. It will also be showcased at MWC 2026.

With an 8000mAh battery in a slim body, will ultra-large battery phones become more common in the midrange segment this year?
