OPPO Reno15 Pro 5G Hands-on: Compact yet Powerful

After seeing the Reno15 F at a telco store and then stumbling upon the Reno15 5G at another gadget shop, I noticed a third Reno model on display. This time, it was the OPPO Reno15 Pro 5G.

The unit on the counter was in a dusk brown finish. It is not the kind of color you usually see on phones, and that alone made me pick it up. Under the shop lights, the brown looked muted and understated, closer to something you would expect from a wallet or a leather accessory than from a typical smartphone. It does not try to stand out, but it looks distinct in a quiet way.

In the hand, the Reno15 Pro 5G immediately felt different from the other two models I had already tried. The first thing I noticed was the size. It is more compact. The display is smaller, and the overall body feels tighter and easier to handle. After holding the larger Reno15 F and Reno15 5G, this one felt almost refreshing. It is the kind of phone that feels more comfortable to use with one hand without constantly shifting your grip.

The back panel has a smooth, refined texture that feels solid and well put together. It does not feel slippery, and it does not pick up fingerprints too easily either. The camera module sits on the top corner, with three lenses arranged neatly. The bump is there, but it does not feel exaggerated. When placed on a table, the phone still rests fairly steadily.

The frame feels solid and slightly cool to the touch. The edges are gently rounded, which helps the phone sit naturally in the palm. The power button and volume keys have a firm, confident click. Nothing feels loose or flimsy. Compared to the other Reno15 models, this one gives off a more serious, more focused impression.

The front is dominated by a smaller AMOLED display compared to the Reno15 F and Reno15 5G. Even so, it still looks sharp and bright. The bezels are slim and even, and the punch-hole camera at the top center stays out of the way. Because the screen is not as large, everything feels a bit more concentrated and easier to reach with your thumb.

In the brightly lit store, the screen remained clear and easy to see. A few swipes through the interface showed smooth motion and responsive touch. Animations look fluid, text is sharp, and colors have that familiar AMOLED depth without looking overdone. Watching a short demo clip, the contrast stood out, with deep blacks and clean highlights.

The smaller display changes the overall character of the phone. It makes the Reno15 Pro 5G feel more compact and more controlled, more like a phone designed to be used rather than just looked at. If the Reno15 F and Reno15 5G felt more like big-screen devices meant for media and browsing, this one feels more like something you carry and use all day without thinking too much about its size.

Because this was another quick stop, I did not get to test the cameras, battery life, or performance in any serious way. On paper, this is the most capable of the three Reno15 models, with stronger internals and a more advanced camera setup. But in this short encounter, what stood out was not the spec sheet. It was the shape, the size, and the way the phone felt in the hand.

For reference, the OPPO Reno15 Pro 5G in Vietnam is priced at VND 18,990,000 for the 8GB/256GB variant, which is around PHP 43,000. As with the other Reno models, this should not be taken as an indication of local pricing. Based on past releases, OPPO Philippines usually prices the Reno lineup more affordably, so the eventual Philippine pricing will likely be lower.
