According to the latest nPerf study, Converge ICT delivered the best fixed Internet performance in the Philippines from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. The analysis is based on 47,237 tests conducted via the nPerf web speed test and mobile app, evaluating the country’s major Internet providers: Converge, Globe Telecom, PLDT, and Streamtech. These tests, performed on broadband connections including ADSL, VDSL, cable, fiber (FTTH/FTTB), satellite, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX, offer a clear view of user experiences across different providers.

Converge ICT emerged as the market leader, boasting an average download speed of 101.5 Mb/s, surpassing the national average of 92 Mb/s. This makes Converge ICT the preferred choice for consumers seeking high-speed Internet and superior service quality. For reference, download speeds exceeding 25 Mb/s are classified as excellent, supporting activities like 4K video streaming.

Converge ICT also excelled in streaming performance, achieving an 84% success rate for YouTube streaming tests. This metric assesses streaming quality across three resolutions (360p, 720p, and 1080p), with scores between 75% and 100% indicating smooth video playback.

In terms of web browsing, Converge ICT led the way with an efficiency rate of 58%, translating to an average page load time of 4 seconds. Scores within the 50% to 75% range are considered adequate for general browsing.

Globe Telecom secured second place with an outstanding latency score of 72 ms. Low latency is critical for activities requiring real-time responsiveness, such as gaming and video conferencing. A latency range of 31-100 ms is considered optimal for minimizing delay.

PLDT took third place, excelling in upload speed with an impressive 84 Mb/s. This strong upload performance, along with solid download speeds, makes PLDT a reliable choice for users who require efficient upload capabilities, such as uploading HD videos.

Although ranked fourth, Streamtech demonstrated solid performance in latency and streaming, closely trailing Globe Telecom. With a 74% streaming score, Streamtech offers a good experience for media consumption, making it a viable option for users prioritizing streaming quality.

The nPerf study, based on extensive crowd-sourced data, reflects the real-world experiences of Internet users across various networks in the Philippines. It is based on thousands of tests carried out exclusively by the operators’ end-customers, making it one of the largest “crowdsourced” studies in the country. These tests reflect the real experience of the general public in the Philippines on the various Internet networks. The tests carried out in the nPerf mobile app (Android & iOS) that have been taken into account in this study are only those carried out on Wi-Fi networks.

The study employs a strong filtering method to reflect real customer experiences on a specific network. Measures are taken to prevent probes and measurement robots from affecting the results.
