Flip it open, and it feels familiar. But stay with it long enough, and you’ll realize the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 is doing more than ever, without even asking you to unfold it.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 builds on its iconic form factor and gives it actual purpose. While last year’s model focused more on style and selfies, this year Samsung brings bigger changes where they count: on the cover screen, AI tools, and performance. And after spending a few days with it, we can say it’s not just a cute foldable anymore—it’s finally functional.

Samsung refined the Flip7 with a slimmer hinge and tighter profile. It’s now the thinnest Flip yet at just 13.7mm when folded and weighs only 188 grams. That makes it easier to slip into pockets, clutches, and even shallow pouches.

The back panel and cover are now made with Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the new Armor FlexHinge has been restructured for better durability. The hinge also folds flatter and feels smoother. Like the Fold7, it also uses Armor Aluminum for a tougher build.
One of the Flip7’s biggest upgrades is the 4.1-inch FlexWindow, which now spans edge to edge. It’s brighter at 2,600 nits and runs at 120Hz, matching the main 6.9-inch AMOLED display inside.

The larger FlexWindow isn’t just for show—it supports typing messages, previewing photos, and interacting with Now Bar widgets and app extensions. You can check your rideshare ETA, music playback, or even use Gemini AI without flipping the device open.
This year, the Flip7 finally gets a battery that lasts. At 4,300mAh, it’s the biggest in any Flip model to date, and paired with a more efficient 3nm Galaxy-customized processor, it should be able to deliver real endurance.

The phone also brings Samsung DeX for the first time to the Flip line. Connect to a monitor or TV, and it becomes a portable desktop. Performance in general is snappy across tasks, and we didn’t experience overheating even during extended multitasking.
Samsung placed a dual 50MP wide + 12MP ultra-wide setup at the back, and a 10MP front camera. It’s the same flagship-level sensors on the Fold7, and the image quality holds up well.

FlexCam, Dual Preview, and Zoom Slider improve how you take selfies and group shots from the cover screen. There’s a new Portrait Studio with creative filters and AI enhancements that make even pet portraits stand out.
Night shots benefit from better low-light processing and 10-bit HDR for video. If you’re a content creator or just love taking photos, the Flip7 brings better balance across camera tools and editing.

The Flip7 ships with One UI 8 based on Android 16, and it’s now more tightly integrated with Galaxy AI. On the FlexWindow, Gemini Live is finally usable—ask questions, get directions, or run contextual tasks by voice or camera. The new Now Bar and Now Brief features bring daily summaries, health data, and even mood-based recommendations.
AI also powers real-time translation, Circle to Search, and background noise removal with Audio Eraser. These tools work well, especially for travel or work calls.

Initial Thoughts

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is no longer just a phone that folds—it’s a smart tool that adapts to your day, whether it’s for photos, messages, or on-the-go assistance. The upgraded FlexWindow changes how you interact with it. Combined with better cameras, longer battery, and full-featured AI, the Flip7 now feels like a practical everyday device—not just a fashion statement.
If you’ve been waiting for the Flip to mature, this version feels like the one that finally makes the case.
