vivo X200 FE Review: Compact Flagship, Full-Sized Power

With flagships remaining big and bulky, the vivo X200 FE goes in the opposite direction. It’s a rare entry in the market that chooses to be compact without watering down performance. With ZEISS optics, a high-end chip, and a massive battery packed into a slim frame, the X200 FE aims to give users a real flagship experience that’s easier to carry, lighter in hand, and less of a hassle during busy days. Here’s my full review.

I’ve been using the vivo X200 FE as my daily driver for quite some time now. From live performances to crowded halls and long on-foot days, it served as my only camera, content device, and communications tool.

Design and Construction

What first stood out was how little space the X200 FE took up in my pocket and bag. Measuring only 7.99mm thick and weighing 186g, this phone slips into tight jeans or sling bags with no trouble at all. The flat display, metallic frame, and matte textured glass back feel premium without being slippery.

The device uses a “squircle” camera module called the Rhythm Eye, a shape that’s meant to help fingers rest naturally on the phone without bumping into lens bumps. It works, even during fast-paced scenes where I had to whip out the phone quickly, the grip felt secure and never awkward.

It’s IP69 and military-grade certified, which gave me peace of mind when using it outdoors during sudden rains and inside crowded areas where bumps and spills are likely.

Display and Audio

The 6.31-inch AMOLED panel here deserves more praise than it gets. With a 1.5K resolution and up to 5000 nits of peak brightness, it handled both indoor and outdoor viewing extremely well. I had no problem composing shots at the stage, even under harsh lighting, and checking photos in real time was easy even with the sun overhead.

It also uses 2160Hz PWM dimming, which helps reduce eye strain. This made a noticeable difference after hours of screen-on time. The SGS Low Blue Light Certification adds to the device’s comfort, making it more pleasant to use for long stretches.

Audio is handled by stereo speakers, and while not the loudest in its class, they deliver clear vocals and a good sense of stereo separation. Wearing earphones, however, gave better detail, especially for music or editing audio clips during post-processing.

Camera

This is where the X200 FE sets itself apart from other compact devices. The phone comes equipped with two 50MP cameras: one main and one ZEISS Super Telephoto, both tuned for natural color reproduction and detail.

During my time covering recent events, I used the telephoto lens extensively. From the middle rows of a crowded hall, I could still shoot crisp photos of stage performers at 3x and 10x zoom with great sharpness. Stage Mode managed lighting well, preserving detail without overexposing bright spots or crushing shadows. The 10x digital zoom, while pushing the limit, still held enough clarity to be usable in social posts or documentation.

Portrait mode delivered equally impressive results. I took photos of cosplayers between activities, and the subject separation was on point. The background blur was smooth without looking artificial, and fine details on costumes, makeup, and props were preserved even at high zoom. Colors were consistent and accurate across all lenses.

The ZEISS Multifocal Portraits feature allowed me to shoot at 50mm and 85mm to create more cinematic compositions. This was especially helpful in isolating subjects in busy environments without needing to physically move closer.

Post-shoot tools like AI Magic Move and AI Reflection Erase added flexibility. I fixed background distractions in a few shots and even expanded the frame on one image to give it a wider context. All of this happened within the built-in editor, no third-party apps needed.

Performance

The vivo X200 FE runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+, a chip typically reserved for higher-tier devices. Paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB storage, it ran all my event-day tasks without hiccups. I moved between messaging apps, social media uploads, cloud folders, photo editing, and camera use without delays or heat buildup.

The phone remained cool even under camera-heavy workloads. Thermal management felt well-optimized, and there was no noticeable lag even after hours of active use.

Funtouch OS 15, based on Android 15, is lightweight and packed with useful features. I made use of Gemini AI during one conversation with a visiting booth exhibitor to translate short snippets in real time. Circle to Search also worked as expected, especially when quickly identifying cosplayer designs or brand logos from booths.

On the connectivity side, 5G was stable and fast within SMX. Paired with Wi-Fi 6 support, uploads and file syncs worked reliably even in crowded network conditions.

Battery and Charging

This might be the X200 FE’s most underrated feature. A 6500 mAh battery in a body this slim is impressive on paper, and it holds up well in practice. On my longest day at SMX, I left home around 9 AM and got back close to 11 PM. I used the camera heavily, stayed on 5G, edited photos, sent files, and took video clips. By the end of the day, I still had around 20 percent left.

On lighter days, the phone easily stretched across two days of use. Standby time was strong, and background processes didn’t eat up battery overnight.

When it came time to charge, the 90W FlashCharge tech brought me back to full in under an hour. A 10-minute top-up got me through several more hours of light use, which came in handy between event sessions.

The battery tech includes vivo’s BlueVolt system and semi-solid electrolyte design, which contributes to better thermal control and safety, even under pressure.

The Rundown

The vivo X200 FE offers a rare balance of size, power, and practicality. It’s built for people who need something reliable but don’t want a phone that demands both hands. It can handle camera work, heavy app use, and long days without drama. Whether you’re attending a convention, working remotely, or documenting content on the fly, this device delivers the essentials with room to spare.

The vivo X200 FE is now available in stores and online for PHP 44,999.
