Infinix has introduced the NOTE Edge smartphone, becoming the first device powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset together with the company’s new XOS 16 interface based on Android 16. The device is part of Infinix’s expanding mid-range lineup and is scheduled for an official launch on February 24, 2026.

Why it Matters: New chipsets and operating systems in the mid-range segment usually bring features that were once limited to higher priced phones, which can affect performance expectations, connectivity quality, and overall software experience for more users.

According to Infinix, the NOTE Edge is co-optimized with MediaTek to improve 5G stability while lowering power consumption. The company says the performance tuning focuses on crowded environments and weak signal areas such as subways and rural locations, aiming to reduce lag and make streaming and gaming more consistent. The device is also rated to support up to 90 frames per second in selected mobile games, while modem power usage is said to be reduced by up to 21 percent.

The phone also introduces XOS 16, Infinix’s updated user interface with a refreshed visual design called Glow Space. Changes include semi-transparent interface elements, new animations, and 3D spatial wallpapers that create layered depth on the home screen. XOS 16 also adds Live Photo transfer compatibility with iPhones, allowing motion and audio to be shared across platforms.

Infinix says the combined rollout of the Dimensity 7100 platform and XOS 16 is intended to improve coordination between hardware and software, particularly in efficiency and interface responsiveness. The company will also run a “King of Edge” raffle promo that includes prizes such as laptops, concert tickets, and an overseas trip.

Full specifications, Philippine pricing, and availability details have not yet been announced and are expected closer to the official launch date. Will the NOTE Edge raise the performance standard for mid-range smartphones this year?
