We’ve told your our story of purchasing a new CANON PIXMA G3020 printer the other month and has been our to-go for our document and photo prints. It’s actually our first time to have a printer of this type, and we’re happy to see a lot of benefits with using an ink tank printer. Here are some of them.

This is an article speaking from personal experiences with printers since we’ve had so much over the past few years, and they often break down for some reason. We’ve realized we got a lot of good things with the printer we bought so we ought to share them with you.

Easier, mess-free ink transfer

Compared to cartridge-type printers, ink tank printers only have bottles to transfer the liquid from the bottle to the ink tank. With the specialized system for transferring, the transfer process is generally mess-free. The ink bottles are also affordable at PHP360 and go a long way compared to cartridges that offer so little ink for around the same price or even more.

You’ll probably mention that you can save more with buying a cartridge type printer and have it converted with a continuous refilling ink system which was the norm for some printing shops, but trust me when I say that those types really get messy and inconvenient, especially when your printer malfunctions and doesn’t print with the colors you need.

Cheaper costs, higher yields

With that said, printing costs are down as you get more than the norm compared to small cartridges. Ink tanks offer higher page yield — for example, our current Canon PIXMA G3020 printer offers up to 7,700 pages with its colored inks, and up to 6,000 with its black-pigment ink tank. That’s a lot of printouts even if you use it for the office or you do a lot of it at home.

More functions you can actually use

Lastly, this is what I think mattered a lot. Ink tank printers may be pricey (the PIXMA G3020 costs PHP 9,995), but they offer more value for the money than their standard ink cartridge counterparts. Aside from letting you do the basic print, scan and copy, it’s also important that you look beyond those and check what your printer has to offer.

We were surprised to find out that this printer can even enlarge and enhance your copies with the settings right from the printer. WiFi connectivity has been key, too, since we placed our printer in a common area without any PCs or laptops connected. The bundled software (i.e Canon Easy PhotoPrint Editor) is fun and easy to use, especially if you can decorate your photos before printing them out. Lastly, there’s the option of printing borderless if we want to, compared to our previous three printers where there is a noticeable area intentionally left as a margin.

These are just some of the benefits that we saw when we switched to an ink tank printer, the Canon PIXMA G3020 to be exact, and we couldn’t be happier.
