CreditMo Integrates National ID Verification Through PSA Partnership

Island Credit Solution (ICS) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) have formalized a partnership to integrate the National ID Authentication Services (NIDAS) into CreditMo, allowing users to verify their identities through the National ID when requesting their credit reports.

The integration makes ICS the first Special Accessing Entity (SAE) and credit bureau partner to successfully integrate with NIDAS, according to the announcement. The initiative aims to simplify identity verification while strengthening the protection of Filipinos’ credit information.

Why it matters: Credit reports contain sensitive financial information, making secure identity verification essential. By integrating the National ID authentication service into CreditMo, ICS aims to make it easier for individuals to access their own credit information while reducing the risk of unauthorized access.

The details: CreditMo is a digital credit platform powered by ICS that allows individuals to view their credit reports and scores, monitor their credit standing, and receive personalized insights and financial product recommendations based on their credit profiles.

Before the integration, users requesting a credit report had to complete several verification steps, including submitting an identification document, confirming personal details, and undergoing a liveness check.

With NIDAS, users can now verify their identity in one step using the National ID, simplifying the process of requesting their credit information.

The integration also changes how identities are verified. Rather than relying solely on a photograph of an identification document, NIDAS enables CreditMo to authenticate a user’s identity against the National ID database. This is intended to help reduce fraudulent identification and protect the confidentiality of credit records.

PSA Assistant Secretary Rosalinda P. Bautista, deputy national statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office, said the partnership demonstrates how the National ID can support practical digital services through a more streamlined identity verification process.

The bigger picture: Beyond identity verification, CreditMo aims to give individuals greater visibility into their credit standing.

Through the platform, users can review their credit reports and scores, examine their credit history and payment behavior, and receive insights based on their profiles. This information can help them understand how their financial behavior may affect their access to financial products and services.

Alex Zhu, deputy chief executive officer of ICS, said the company wants to make credit information more useful to individuals, rather than limiting its primary role to helping financial institutions assess borrowers.

He described the approach as turning the traditional “magnifying glass” used by institutions to assess borrowers into a “mirror” that allows individuals to better understand their own credit profiles and identify areas for improvement.

Between the lines: The partnership reflects an effort to make credit information more accessible while reducing friction in the process of obtaining it. A simpler verification process may make it easier for users to check their financial standing, while authentication through the National ID database adds another layer to identity verification.

However, access to a credit report does not automatically guarantee loan approval or access to a particular financial product. Credit decisions still depend on the requirements and assessment processes of the relevant financial institutions.

For Filipinos: CreditMo’s services may help individuals become more aware of their credit history and payment behavior, particularly when preparing to apply for financial products.

Having access to credit information can help users identify areas they may need to improve and better understand how lenders may assess their credit profiles. The National ID integration is intended to make obtaining that information more convenient without requiring users to go through multiple verification steps.

Atty. Henedine P. Palabras, officer-in-charge assistant national statistician of the PSA’s Use Case Development and Management Service, said the collaboration supports efforts to strengthen trust, transparency, and accessibility in the country’s digital and financial services.

What’s next: ICS and the PSA are positioning the integration as an example of how public and private sector technologies can work together to improve access to digital services. CreditMo’s National ID authentication feature is intended to make credit information more accessible while strengthening identity verification.

Mery Singh, chief of staff of ICS, said the company’s goal is to help Filipinos access information that can support more informed financial decisions and open up potential financial opportunities.

The Bottom Line: CreditMo’s integration with the PSA’s National ID Authentication Services simplifies identity verification for users requesting their credit reports. By combining National ID authentication with access to credit information, the partnership aims to improve convenience and security while helping Filipinos better understand their financial profiles.
