TECNO CAMON Slim 5G launching in the Philippines this October

TECNO is bringing the CAMON Slim 5G to the Philippines this October, introducing a smartphone that combines a 6.39mm slim body with a 50MP Sony LYTIA camera, 6,000mAh battery, 144Hz AMOLED display, and a range of AI-powered features.

The new smartphone is positioned under TECNO’s #MakeItLighter campaign, which highlights young Filipina professionals balancing careers, family, personal interests, and other aspects of everyday life.

The details: At 6.39mm thick, the CAMON Slim 5G features TECNO’s swan-neck curve design, inspired by ballet and automotive design. Despite its slim profile, the phone packs a 6,000mAh battery designed for full-day use.

The phone will be available in five colorways: Burgundy Red, Neo Mondrian, Matisse Black, Van Gogh Blue, and Rebel Pink.

Burgundy Red uses a fiberglass body with a matte texture and a red-brown finish. Neo Mondrian uses photochromic technology, with a white rear panel that reveals colored blocks under ultraviolet light. Matisse Black combines a black fiberglass body with fluorescent green accents.

Van Gogh Blue uses a patterned gradient coating inspired by the swirling appearance of Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night, while Rebel Pink combines pink accents with a black body.

For photography, the CAMON Slim 5G features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C Ultra-Night Main Camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor. A closed-loop ball motor is used for autofocus, while optical image stabilization, AI electronic image stabilization, and AI Shutter work together for stabilization and low-light photography.

One of the phone’s camera features is Super-Zoom FlashSnap, which uses AI to automatically capture moments without requiring users to press the shutter. It supports up to 2x telephoto snap shooting and shutter speeds of up to 1/11236 second for freezing fast-moving subjects.

The camera also supports Multi-Focal-Length Portrait with 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm options. TECNO’s Universal Tone technology is designed to reproduce different skin tones more consistently using an AI-powered imaging system and a large skin-tone database.

TECNO is also introducing the Mag Badge alongside the CAMON Slim 5G. The magnetic accessory features a 1.73-inch AMOLED display and connects to the smartphone through Bluetooth. It can function as a photo gallery display, remote shutter with a range of up to 10 meters, and selfie assistant with camera preview and camera-switching functions.

The CAMON Slim 5G also includes several AI features focused on productivity and everyday tasks. AI Snap Poster can create product posters by removing an item’s background and placing it into a selected scene, while AI Pet Together combines separate photos of users and their pets into a single image.

AI LightMaster 2.0 can remove shadows, lens flares, and reflections from photos. These features can be accessed through the phone’s zero screen.

For students and professionals, AI Recording Notes can transcribe recorded lectures and organize them into structured notes. The feature can also connect photos of whiteboards to their corresponding moments in an audio recording.

AI Class Schedule can extract class schedules from screenshots or photos of printed schedules, organize them by color, and display them through a dedicated widget.

For health and lifestyle use, AI Healthy Eating analyzes photos of food to estimate calories and nutrients and provide meal recommendations.

The CAMON Slim 5G also uses a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification. Wet & Oily Hand Touch Recognition 2.0 is designed to keep the display responsive when users have wet or oily hands. Rain Touch provides touch control in heavy rain, while Waterproof Case Touch allows the phone to remain controllable while inside a waterproof case.

The device carries IP69K, IP69, IP68, and IP66 protection ratings and supports underwater photography. TECNO also says the phone has passed MIL-STD-810 certification for resistance to shocks and drops.

Under the hood, the CAMON Slim 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300e 5G processor. TECNO says the phone will receive five years of security updates and three major OS upgrades. It also carries TÜV SÜD certification for 60 months of sustained fluidity.
