OPPO officially launches its all-new ColorOS 12 operating system for its global smartphone users that gives a closer to stock Android 12 experience. The new OS introduces a new inclusive UI, smoother performance, and more features.
Building on top of OPPO’s Infinite Design concept that features a lightweight, clean, rich, and customizable experience, Inclusivity is now a central theme in the creation of ColorOS 12. This gives the new OS version softer icons, animations, and information frameworks that are friendly to different languages and cultures, and an adaptable framework with different phone formats.
Thanks to long-term code decoupling, ColorOS 12 has addressed lags and stutters after prolonged usage leading to a low 2.75% system aging rate in three years and an average of 30% lower memory occupation and 20% lower battery consumption.
The Quantum Animation Engine inside ColorOS 12 also adopts more than 300 animations to achieve life-like animated effects. It imitates physical habits of resistance, inertia, and rebound. Other features included are PC Connect, three-finger translate powered by Google Lens, FlexDrop, and Phone Manager.
ColorOS 12 also has improved security and privacy features from Android 12 namely: Privacy Dashboards, Approximate Location Sharing, and Microphone and Camera Indicators. OPPO-developed security and privacy features are also included: Private System, Private Safe, App Lock, and many more. Moreover, OPPO improved its data compliance with servers deployed in multiple locations across the world that guarantees user data is stored securely with privacy certifications from organizations such as ePrivacy and ISO27001.
The new OS version has also inspired Android 12 with its in-house features such as the wallpaper-based theming system in Material you as well as the App Cloner thanks to OPPO’s Android partners and its culture of openness that helped enhance both platforms. Moreover, the new ColorOS aims to be more Android developer-friendly by opening its camera SDKs including Ultra Steady Video Shooting, HDR, Super Wide-Angle, etc. It also opened its HyperBoost, Color Vision Enhancement to Android app developers.
OPPO is one of the first Android OEMs to roll out Android 12 through its ColorOS 12 public beta that is available today. It will come first on the OPPO Find X3 Pro models in Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia with plans on expanding to more models covering more countries and regions through the rest of 2021 and 2022, including the Philippines. OPPO aims to bring ColorOS 12 to over 110 models with 150 million users.
