Vivo has gained the top smartphone brand spot in the Philippines, according to Canalys market insights for Q2 2020.
During the period of hard lockdowns in the country, Vivo has managed to aggressively transform its operations to online and bulk purchasing, which made its market share to 21%, an 18% increase growth from last year. Samsung follows at second with a 19% market share, with a 7% decrease from its shipments last year.
Following Samsung are realme and OPPO, with the former gaining an astounding 254% increase from its last year’s market share. OPPO, on the other hand, had a 43% decline in its market share compared to the same period last year.
Last on the list is Huawei, which is slowly making its comeback at #5 with 7% of the current market share. Please keep in mind that these are sell-in shipment estimates from Canalys, meaning these are the units imported by these brands to the country to be distributed in its authorized stores and dealers, as well as online platforms.
In Southeast Asia, Samsung remains number one in Southeast Asia with a 21% share, with OPPO, Vivo, realme, and Huawei trailing behind. Both Vivo and realme posted increases by 20% and 102%, respectively.
