Huawei outs the revamped Mate Xs foldable phone

Same old, brand new foldable

The Huawei Mate Xs is now official, as it’s announced at the brand’s annual Industrial Digital Transformation Developer Conference.

It does look familiar since its overall design and displays are not changed in any way. What’s different are on the inside: It’s packed with a Kirin 990 5G chipset, an upgraded hinge structure, and an improved cooling system.

Huawei Mate Xs specs:

  • 8-inch AMOLED display (unfolded, outwards-folding)
    2480 x 2200 px, 8:7.1 aspect ratio

    Main: 6.6-inch AMOLED display, 2480 x 1148 px, 19.5:9 aspect ratio

Huawei touts the new Falcon Wing hinge system to be stronger and more robust compared to its predecessor. The Flying Fish cooling system challenges the form factor with flexible bionic graphite inside. There’s also a Like the Mate 30 series and the mid-range Y7P, the Huawei Mate Xs do not come with Google services out of the box.

The new Huawei foldable will be available globally starting March, with retail prices in Europe beginning at EUR 2,499 or roughly around Php139,000 when converted.
