Apple has introduced the Apple Watch Series 12 in the Philippines, bringing a new Health Sensing System, the S11 chip, and expanded health and fitness features to its latest smartwatch.

The Apple Watch Series 12 is available in 42mm and 46mm sizes, with aluminum, titanium, and ceramic options. Its major upgrades focus on more frequent heart rate measurements, a new readiness score, longer workout battery life, and faster charging.
Why it matters: The Apple Watch Series 12 puts health sensing at the center of the experience. Its new Health Sensing System works with the S11 chip to provide more frequent heart rate and heart rate variability measurements, powering several of the watch’s new health features.
The details: The optical heart sensor now measures heart rate every five seconds throughout the day using larger, power-efficient green LEDs. Apple says the new system delivered the highest heart rate accuracy among the devices tested in a study involving more than 1,000 participants.
Heart rate variability is also measured up to 24 times more often. The watch separates HRV into Recovery HRV and Overall HRV, while overnight and daytime vitals provide additional context around changes in a user’s metrics.

One of the biggest additions is Readiness, which analyzes recent activity, training load, vitals, and sleep score to generate a 0-10 score. It then provides recommendations such as Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready, or Go For It. The score can update throughout the day as new data comes in, such as after an intense workout or a change in daytime vitals.
Apple Watch Series 12 retains up to 24 hours of everyday battery life, while outdoor workouts can now run for up to 10 hours, a 25 percent improvement over the previous model. Charging is also faster. A 15-minute charge can provide up to 12 hours of additional battery life, according to Apple.
Apple has redesigned the pedometer model with new machine learning algorithms for improved distance measurements during indoor walking and running workouts. The S11 chip also enables more accurate all-day step counting and a new Steps complication.
The S11 chip also enables Sound Recognition on Apple Watch. It can detect sounds such as sirens, alarms, doorbells, and a crying baby and alert users who are deaf or hard of hearing, even when an iPhone isn’t nearby.
Shazam is also built into the experience, allowing the watch to identify music playing around the user and display the song and artist through the Music Recognition widget. Apple says these features are designed with privacy in mind. The S11 chip’s Secure Exclave processes audio in an isolated environment, with no audio recordings created or stored.

The Apple Watch Series 12 ships with watchOS 27, which adds features including Sleep Apnea Notifications in the Philippines, a dynamic app grid, a new single-handed tap gesture, Smart Stack widget suggestions, and support for perimenopause and menopause in Cycle Tracking.
Design and finishes: Apple Watch Series 12 comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes. Aluminum options include dark bronze, black, light gold, and space gray, while titanium models are offered in radiant gold and natural titanium.
A new ceramic version is available in pearl white and night blue. Aluminum models also feature Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says is 60 percent tougher than the Ion-X glass used on previous aluminum models.
