GMA Network has officially launched its own version of a Digital TV Receiver, touting more features and a more affordable price tag in tow.
The network’s version of the Digital TV receiver aptly called an Affordabox, features not only receives channels but has more features to love. There’s a built-in multimedia player, and a digital recorder to record your favorite shows.
It also features an embedded Nationwide Emergency Warning Broadcast System (EWBS), which is a standard for ISDB-T channels and which the government plans on using in the future. The Affordabox also turns on automatically, as a measure, to broadcast emergency warnings as needed.
The box also features RCA and HDMI connectivities, though only the RCA cables are bundled in the package. Other inclusions are the antenna, remote control with batteries included, and other documentation including a quick guide and a warranty card.
Not much has been mentioned in its specs, but it can be used where GMA’s digital TV signal is available: Metro Manila, Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal, Bohol, Cebu, Leyte, Davao de Oro, Davao del Sur, and Davao del Norte. The GMA Affordabox is priced at PHP 888 and is available on Lazada and Shopee. Select offline retailers are said to offer the product in the coming months.
