Samsung brings Galaxy AI to more devices with OneUI 6.1

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced the rollout of Galaxy AI features to a wider range of Galaxy devices with the introduction of the new One UI 6.1 update. This update aims to democratize mobile AI by making it more accessible to users. The update will be available for devices including the Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, and Tab S9 series, starting from the end of March. By aligning with the recently launched Galaxy S24 series, this update enhances users’ mobile AI experience through a hybrid approach combining on-device and cloud-based AI.

TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, stated, “Our goal with Galaxy AI is not only to pioneer a new era of mobile AI but also to empower users by making AI more accessible. This is only the beginning of Galaxy AI, as we plan to bring the experience to over 100 million Galaxy users within 2024 and continue to innovate ways to harness the unlimited possibilities of mobile AI.”

Communication features are now extended to more Galaxy users, allowing them to benefit from communication-enhancing Galaxy AI features available on AI-supported models. These features include adjusting message tone and translating messages in 13 different languages using Chat Assist. Live Translate offers voice and text translations for phone calls, while Interpreter facilitates spontaneous conversations with locals during travel by providing text translations for live conversations via a split-screen feature.

The broader integration of Galaxy AI across the Galaxy ecosystem enhances day-to-day productivity on AI-supported models. Circle to Search with Google improves search functions through intuitive search results generated with a swift circle-motion gesture. Note Assist enables users to create formats, generate summaries, and translate notes, while Browsing Assist generates comprehensive summaries of news articles to help users stay informed faster. Transcript Assist simplifies the transcription of meeting recordings and generates summaries and translations.

Samsung aims to unlock users’ creative potential with Galaxy AI tools that encourage creative freedom even after a photo is taken. Generative Edit allows users to resize, reposition, or realign objects in photos effortlessly, while Edit Suggestion streamlines the photo editing process. Instant Slow-mo generates additional frames for slow-motion videos to capture action-packed moments. Additionally, AI-generated wallpapers make customizing Galaxy devices easier, enabling users to bring their creativity to life.
