Xiaomi recently hosted its Xiaomi EV Technology Launch, introducing five groundbreaking technologies – E-Motor, Battery, Xiaomi Die-Casting, Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving, and Smart Cabin. This event marked Xiaomi’s ambitious entry into the automotive industry, aiming to redefine automotive technology.
Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle, the Xiaomi SU7, was “pre-launched” at the event, showcasing its design, performance, range, and safety features. Positioned as a “full-size high-performance eco-technology sedan,” the Xiaomi SU7 is set to revolutionize the automotive industry.
Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi Group, expressed the company’s commitment to investing tenfold in fundamental core technologies. Xiaomi aims to become one of the top five global automakers within 15 to 20 years, closing the loop of the Human x Car x Home smart ecosystem.
The Xiaomi EV is taking a bottom-up approach, starting with the development of foundational core technologies. With an initial investment exceeding 10 billion CNY and a team of over 3,400 engineers, Xiaomi showcased breakthroughs in E-Motor, Battery, Xiaomi Die-Casting, Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving, and Smart Cabin technologies.
Its HyperEngine V6/V6s and HyperEngine V8s E-motors, breaking performance records with innovative technologies like Bidirectional Full Oil Cooling and S-shaped oil circuit design. HyperEngine V8s, set for mass production in 2025, boasts a global record for E-motors with a maximum speed of 27,200 rpm.
Xiaomi’s CTB Integrated Battery Technology, featuring Inverted Cell Technology, offers a battery integration efficiency of 77.8%. With a maximum capacity of 150 kWh and a theoretical CLTC recharge range exceeding 1200 km, Xiaomi’s battery sets industry standards in safety and performance.
They also introduced a self-developed Xiaomi Die-Casting T9100 cluster and Xiaomi Titans Metal alloy material. This technology significantly reduces car weight, production hours, and improves efficiency in the manufacturing process.
Autonomous driving is also present with Adaptive BEV Technology, Road-Mapping Foundational Model, and Super-Res Occupancy Network Technology. Equipped with top-tier configurations, Xiaomi aims to join the industry’s top echelon in autonomous driving by 2024.
The Xiaomi EV Smart Cabin adopts a “human-centric” approach with a 16.1-inch 3K central console and a 56-inch HUD head-up display. With the Snapdragon 8295 in-car chip, Xiaomi provides an ultimate interactive experience, seamlessly integrating over 1000 Xiaomi smart home devices.
Positioned as a “full-size high-performance eco-technology sedan,” the Xiaomi SU7 promises cutting-edge technology, high performance, and a comprehensive mobile smart space experience. Boasting a zero-to-hundred acceleration in 2.78 seconds and top speeds of 265 km/h, the Xiaomi SU7 integrates seamlessly with Xiaomi’s extensive CarIoT ecosystem.
Xiaomi’s entry into the automotive industry completes the “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem. With the fusion of technology, experience, and aesthetics, Xiaomi aims to create a dream car for the new era of the automotive industry.
