HUAWEI is set to release its “Super Smartphone” the nova 8 and nova 8i. The nova lineup of HUAWEI has marked its territory to the mid-range smartphone segment years ago when they launched its first generation of devices.
On their 8th iteration, both smartphones sport a refreshed design reminiscent of the Mate and P series, an upgraded 64MP quad-camera, HUAWEI Edgeless Display, and 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge technology.
HUAWEI nova 8i
The HUAWEI nova 8i on the front has a 6.67-inch HUAWEI Edgeless Display, a 1080 x 2376px FHD+ resolution, a 94.7% screen-to-body ratio, and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. Its Eye Comfort mode has also passed TĂœV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification to ensure that the user’s eyes are protected from harmful blue light.
At the back is a 64MP Quad Camera fitted with a 1/1.7-inch sensor. It also has a 120-degree Ultra-Wide Angle Camera and a Macro Camera that can take close-up photos 4cm away from the lens. The camera also supports Super Night Shot 2.0 for low-light photography.
This can be charged to 68% in just 20 minutes and 100% in just 38 minutes all thanks to the 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge technology. Power-saving AI algorithms also provide proper battery management.
HUAWEI nova 8
The HUAWEI nova 8 on the other hand has a 6.57-inch curved OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It also has AI-aided mistouch prevention to avoid accidental touches on the curved part of the screen.
The back consists of a 64MP main camera, 8MP Ultra-Wide Camera, 2MP Macro Camera, and 2MP Bokeh Camera. The Dual-View Video mode can capture video simultaneously using the main and ultra-wide camera.
Thanks to 3D graphene technology, the nova 8 does not easily get hot even when playing games or just browsing the web. The proper heat dissipation makes this smartphone cool enough to run smoothly. With the 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge, the nova 8 can be charged to 60% in just 15 minutes and 100% in 35 minutes.
HUAWEI EMUI and AppGallery
Both the nova 8 and nova 8i run on the latest HUAWEI EMUI that includes the HUAWEI AppGallery. Users can download most of their favorite apps including TikTok, GCash, Instagram, Shopee, and Lazada. The built-in search engine called Petal Search can also be used to browse the web and download apps like Mobile Legends, Facebook, Zoom, and Netflix.
MeeTime is HUAWEI’s own video calling service between HUAWEI devices. Multi-screen collaboration can make a seamless connection between the PC and a HUAWEI device and transfer files or mirror the smartphone’s display.
