Riot Games has announced the arrival of Summit, a brand-new VALORANT map launching alongside Season 2026 // Act 4 on June 24, 2026. The update also introduces Retake, a new 3v3 game mode centered around post-plant scenarios, as well as the Blackspyre Collection and a fresh Battlepass.

Why it Matters: Season 2026 // Act 4 expands VALORANT’s competitive experience with a map that changes dynamically during a match and a new mode designed to help players sharpen one of the game’s most critical skills. Combined with new cosmetic content, the update offers both gameplay and progression additions for casual and competitive players.
Summit brings dynamic map mechanics
Set within a Radiant training academy nestled in the mountains of China, Summit serves as the former site of the Radiant monastery where Sage trained before joining the VALORANT Protocol. The map combines modern training facilities with meditation gardens and mountain scenery while introducing a mechanic that can alter the flow of a match.

Summit follows a familiar two Spike Site and three-lane layout but features three droppable walls located at A Site, B Site, and Mid. Once activated, these walls permanently change the battlefield for the remainder of the round by blocking key sightlines and limiting rotation paths.

According to Riot Games, the map is designed to encourage teams to make strategic decisions about when to reshape the battlefield rather than relying on traditional map control.
To help players learn the new environment, Summit will be available in the Competitive queue immediately upon launch. During the first two weeks, players will lose 50% less Rank Rating (RR) when defeated on Summit while still earning 100% RR for victories.
A dedicated Summit-Only queue will also be available for 7 days, using the Swiftplay format to help players familiarize themselves with the map.
Retake mode focuses on VALORANT’s most intense moments
Season 2026 // Act 4 also introduces Retake, a fast-paced 3v3 mode that begins with the Spike already planted.
Instead of spending time on the early stages of a round, players jump directly into the post-plant scenario where one team must defend the Spike while the other attempts to retake the site and secure a defuse.
The mode features:
- First team to five round wins
- Teams alternate between Planters and Retakers every round
- The Spike automatically plants after a short setup period
- Randomized loadouts selected through a card system
- Weapons, armor, and abilities that scale as the match progresses
Retake takes place on individual bomb sites from existing VALORANT maps, with Riot confirming that additional locations will be added throughout the Act.
