New Camera Capabilities

The Panorama Shot was introduced in the first Galaxy S in 2010, giving users a wider field of capturing landscapes. While an enhanced camera with an LED flash came when the Galaxy S2 arrived the following year. Meanwhile, the Burst Shot feature that can take up to 20 shots in 3.3 seconds came built-in on the Galaxy S3 which allows users to take clear pictures of fast-moving objects. In addition, the Dual Shot on the Galaxy S4 made the front-facing and rear-facing camera take pictures simultaneously. The Galaxy S6 on the other hand introduced Quick Launch which starts the camera in just 0.7 seconds.

High-quality, Pro-grade Photos

The Galaxy S7 brought the dual pixel image sensor that is featured on high-end cameras with brighter selfies thanks to the Selfie Flash made possible by using the phone’s screen as a front-facing flash. While an improved image signal process algorithm and gesture-based controls were added to the Galaxy S8 for clearer and more stable images. And with the Galaxy S9’s Dual Aperture camera, users were able to take brighter photos in low light as it automatically adjusts the aperture opening just like in professional cameras.

The S20 series also brought the highest camera resolutions ever on a Galaxy smartphone: 108MP on the S20 Ultra and 64MP on the S20 and S20+.

The S21 series further enhanced the Galaxy S family’s camera prowess with a new 108MP camera with 4K 60fps video with Director’s View and Vlogger’s View when shooting videos.
