realme C67 Review: Affordable Smartphone Redefining Expectations

The realme C67 enters the budget powerhouse smartphone arena in the Philippines with an impressive set of features that aim to redefine what users can expect in this price range. Boasting a large 6.72-inch FHD+ IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate, the device immediately captures attention with its vibrant visuals and smooth scrolling. Here’s what we think about the device in our realme C67 review.

realme C67 Review: Design and Build

The realme C67 maintains a sleek and modern design with dimensions of 164.6 x 75.4 x ~7.59mm and a weight of ~185g. It’s the usual realme C-series design we’ve seen since last year — boxy design with rounded corners that make it look premium. The size of the display makes it also a tall one with top areas slightly harder to reach with just one hand alone.

The device is available in two stylish colors – Sunny Oasis and Black Rock. Ours is the latter, which offers a black matte design with diagonal streaks that shine as you tilt the phone at different angles. The back part features the camera area on a rather shiny surface, with the protruding area adorned with a gold outline on the base. The two camera lenses are encircled in a thicker golden circular outline with line streaks akin to a watch bezel.

The chamfered matte polycarbonate edges accentuate the overall phone design, giving the corners a more seamless feel. At the right side are the protruding volume keys, and the power/lock button which is at level with the frame surface as it also acts as the fingerprint scanner.

A 3.5mm audio jack, the microphone, the USB-C port, and the loudspeaker are all at the bottom.

The left side houses the tray slot for two nano SIM cards and a microSD card. Prying it open with the SIM ejector could be a hassle, as it does not pop out much compared to other phones. You’ll have to exert some effort pulling it out as it only ejects around 1-2mm as you poke the SIM tray ejector hole.

At the front is its display with a center-hole camera for selfies and the call speaker, which also doubles as a loudspeaker, above it. The display bezels aren’t uniform as the one at the bottom is thicker compared to the sides, but this aids well in landscape use as you’ll have someplace to rest your wrist properly on. There’s also no plastic bracket featured here, too, so the display feels flatter on the sides compared to earlier models.

The inclusion of IP54 splash and dust resistance adds durability to the device, protecting against accidental spills and light rain.

realme C67 Review: Display and Audio

The 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution delivers crisp and clear images, and the 90Hz refresh rate enhances the overall user experience by providing smoother transitions and animations. With a peak brightness of 950 nits, the display ensures excellent visibility even in bright sunlight. It offers vibrant colors and decent sharpness in most angles. The realme C67 is a good choice for multimedia consumption and gaming on a budget.

Stereo audio is also prevalent here, a feat that they started with the C55 last year. While it can go up to 200% on its stereo speakers with its built-in tech, the sound can be a bit distorted and you can hear cracked audio at times. It’s best to keep it at its default 100%, which is already enough to cover a quiet mid-sized room with good treble and mids, faint bass, and clear vocals.

The 3.5mm audio jack does audio listening satisfactorily with audio you’d normally hear on entry-level phones, likewise listening to audio wirelessly through Bluetooth is a breeze. realme has some audio software you can tinker with to enhance your listening experience on the phone, such as the OReality Audio enhancement technology.

realme C67 Review: Performance

Under the hood, the budget powerhouse offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 chipset. The 6nm, 8-core processor clocked at up to 2.8GHz ensures efficient performance for day-to-day tasks and multitasking.

Running on realme UI U edition based on Android 14, users can expect a feature-rich and customizable user interface, delivering a smooth and user-friendly experience. Much of the vanilla Android 14 base is still intact, save for some known realme software elements and apps. By the time you first boot the phone, 9% of the 232GB available internal storage is already dedicated to pre-installed apps and software, not to mention the tons of suggested apps you’ll get during setup (which you can skip). Some apps (Lazada, Booking.com) can be uninstalled upon first boot.

Paired with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM (virtually expandable up to 16GB by using internal storage as VRAM) and a choice of 128GB or 256GB storage options (expandable up to a whopping 2TB via microSD), the realme C67 promises a smooth and lag-free experience.

Aside from multitasking, we’re able to do Ultra High settings on Mobile Legends, and the phone was able to run other graphics-demanding games such as Asphalt 9, Hungry Shark Evolution, and Genshin Impact without many issues. Heating is normally felt at the upper back part of the phone but isn’t much of an alarming state.

Mini Capsule 2.0 is also available with this device, which utilizes the device’s punch-hole selfie camera to create interesting animations coming from it. It’s now expanded to more functions inside the phone, and we hope to see more apps utilize it aside from just those from the phone’s default features.

Let’s also highlight something here that most brands don’t usually offer at this price range – support for your phone. realme guarantees two years of Android updates and three years of security updates for your phone, which most bang-for-the-back models don’t usually offer. That, for me, is something you should consider too.

The realme C67 includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for convenient and secure unlocking. Connectivity options are comprehensive, with dual nano-SIM slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz/5GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C. Connectivity and security options were not an issue at all as these all worked well.

realme C67 Review: Camera

The realme C67 doesn’t compromise on camera capabilities, featuring a dual rear camera setup. The star of the show is the impressive 108MP f/1.75 Samsung ISOCELL HM6 zoom camera, offering 3x in-sensor zoom for detailed and vibrant shots. The photos taken had balanced contrast, brightness, and even dynamic range. We wish we could say the same for low-light scenarios, which the camera sometimes struggles with.

The 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor contributes to creating appealing portrait shots. On the front, the 8MP selfie shooter captures clear and sharp images. Here are some sample photos:

realme also boasts this phone as one of the first C-series phones to offer Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), which should make video captures smoother than usual. Here’s a sample video with the device:

realme C67 Review: Battery and Charging

Powering the device is a substantial 5000mAh battery, ensuring all-day usage without constantly reaching for the charger. As we used the phone for light to moderate usage, it lasted around 22 hours on average with around 15% to spare for charging.

The 33W SuperVOOC charging technology enables quick top-ups, minimizing downtime. Charging from 0-50% does faster at around 35 minutes, and then trickles from there to preserve battery health and fully charge in around 1 hour and 20 minutes.
