Acer unveils Googlebook 14 with Gemini Intelligence, convertible design

Acer has introduced the Acer Googlebook 14, its first laptop in a new flagship category built around Googlebook OS and Gemini Intelligence, combining a premium convertible design, Intel Core Ultra processors, OLED display, and deeper integration with Android phones.

The details: The Acer Googlebook 14 is powered by up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor 355 with built-in AI engines, including an NPU capable of up to 50 TOPS. It can be configured with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 512GB of PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD storage.

The laptop is designed around Gemini Intelligence, with features intended to provide context-aware assistance and reduce friction when moving between devices and tasks.

“Continue On” allows users to continue tasks started on an Android phone on the Googlebook 14, while “Cast My Apps” provides access to Android phone apps on the laptop without requiring separate installations.

The system can also provide proactive suggestions based on what is displayed on screen, giving users context-aware actions and recommendations.

The Googlebook 14 features a 14-inch 3K OLED display with a 2880 x 1800 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio. The touchscreen supports USI 2.0 stylus input and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass finish.

The display offers up to 500 nits of brightness, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, VESA Certified DisplayHDR True Black, and Eyesafe 2.0 certification.

The chassis uses an aluminum-magnesium blend and comes in an Elemental Blue finish. Acer’s Comfort Touch treatment is applied to the palm rest and bottom cover, while the touchpad uses Corning Gorilla Glass and is designed to resist moisture.

A Glowbar on the top cover provides a visual indicator of battery and charging status.

The 360-degree hinge allows the Googlebook 14 to switch between four modes: clamshell for regular laptop use, tent for streaming, stand for presentations, and tablet mode for touch interaction and note-taking.

The Googlebook 14 packs a 71Wh four-cell lithium-ion battery with fast-charging support. Acer rates the laptop for up to 16 hours of battery life based on web browsing tests and up to 14 hours based on local video playback tests.

The 360-degree hinges are designed to withstand up to 20,000 open-and-close cycles, while the device carries MIL-STD 810H certification.

Acer says the Googlebook 14 incorporates 49% circular materials and uses packaging that is 99% plastic-free. The laptop has an EPEAT Climate+ designation, EPEAT registration, and Energy Star 9.0 certification. Acer also uses laser-etched labels intended to provide durable product information while reducing adhesive waste and supporting recycling.

For users: Buyers of the Acer Googlebook 14 will also receive 12 months of Google AI Pro. The subscription provides expanded access to features in Gemini, Flow, and Gemini Notebook, as well as Gemini integration in Google apps.

The package also includes 5TB of cloud storage for backing up files and photos.
