ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) launches the new ROG Strix and ROG Flow gaming laptops, ROG Slash, and ROG Citadel XV game. All these new products were announced at the For Those Who Dare: Boundless virtual event. Check out the full launch details of each product below.
ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition: Price, Specs, Availability
The new ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition boasts a refreshed external hardware design as well as new internals made for hardcore gaming and content creation:
- Houses an advanced cooling system – a custom vapor chamber, paired with ROG’s exclusive Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal applied to both the CPU and GPU.
- Powered by the brand-new Intel Core i9-12950HX, which has a maximum CPU TDP of 65W and boosts frequencies of up to 5.2 GHz on its Performance cores.
- This can deliver a maximum turbo power (PL2) of 175W for a limited time when the discrete GPU is disabled via Manual mode in Armoury Crate.
- Inside is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU that also has a maximum TGP of up to 175W with Dynamic Boost that can deliver the highest amount of frames on either its QHD 240 Hz or FHD 360 Hz panel options.
- Both display options have a 3 ms response time, supports Dolby Vision, and are Adaptive Sync compatible.
- Other features include a fast DDR5 4800 MHz RAM up to 64 GB and PCIe Gen 4 storage in a RAID 0 array. The exterior design features a distinct cyberpunk aesthetic, with a first-of-its-kind invisible ink applied directly to its metal chassis. In normal lighting, this substance has a matte metallic texture, but with a UV flashlight, the ink appears green and blue and offers in-game hints for SCAR Runner.

ASUS ROG Flow X16: Price, Specs, Availability
This gaming machine is the third addition to the ROG Flow line of devices and the most powerful yet:
- The Flow X16 features an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU that operates at a maximum TGP of 125W with Dynamic Boost, and a MUX Switch. All of these are enclosed in a 19.4 mm thick chassis.
- This can support up to 64 GB of DDR5 4800 MHz RAM, up to 2 TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage, a second open M.2 slot, and both SO-DIMMs are easily accessible for future upgrades.
- Gamers can fully utilize the XG Mobile family of external GPUs to the X16 which has the highest-performing AMD and NVIDIA discrete graphics chips. These compact external GPUs also act as an I/O expansion hub that houses a dedicated Ethernet, USB Type-A, DisplayPort, HMDI 2.1 ports, and an SD card reader.
- Users can feast with their eyes on the ROG Nebula HDR Display with a QHD/165 Hz Mini LED panel with 1100 nits peak brightness and a 100% DCI-P3 gamut. This is complemented by the all-new Frost Force Technology and Pulsar Heatsink, featuring three fans and a high-density heatsink to keep performance high and temperatures low.

ROG Slash
The ROG Slash is inspired by cyberpunk and offers versatile bag and apparel options. These are built with premium materials and feature a gaming-centric design.
The Crossbody Bag, Backpack, Hip Bag, and Protective Laptop bags have adjustable straps, multiple compartments, and a water-repellent TPU material. While the new Cobra Buckle Cap and Bucket Hat offer standout style and protection from the elements.
ROG Citadel XV
This is available as an expansion of the ROG Citadel XV game, SCAR Runner. It is a first-person parkour game following the story of X, who is in a race against time to recover critical information. The game title also ties in with the physical chassis of the ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition, with clues hidden on the laptop itself.
A giveaway campaign with over $20,000 in prizes will be available alongside the launch of SCAR Runner, including the Strix SCAR 17 SE and ROG Slash apparel. The campaign will run from May 17 to June 30, 2022. The complete campaign information can be found here.
