HONOR has started to tease new devices in time for the holiday season, including a new mid-range smartphone called the HONOR X9a 5G.
Several Malaysia tech websites (via Soyacincau, KLgadgetguy) and the HONOR Malaysia page itself have already started to tease the arrival of the said device. The new HONOR X-series phone features a curved display that’s said to be tough enough to withstand drops, as tested by the company in 33 different environments including marble and concrete floors. This was made possible by a “0.65mm ‘super reinforced’ glass on the display for better drop resistance,” according to the websites referenced in the story.
The look of the new phone greatly resembles the HONOR X40 launched in China a few months ago, and if we are to look into that angle, this could be the possible configuration of the new device:
HONOR X9a 5G (rumored) specs:
- 6.67-inch AMOLED display, 1080 x 2400 pixels
Curved edges, 120 degrees - Snapdragon 695
Adreno 619 GPU - 8GB, 12GB RAM
- 128GB, 256GB, 512GB storage
- Dual rear camera with LED Flash:

2MP f/2.4 macro - 5G, Dual nano SIM

40W HONOR SuperCharge - Color: Green, Silver, Black
The HONOR X9a 5G, as suggested by its model name, could be priced well, it could be the most affordable dual-curved screen phone launched in the market today. The HONOR X40 was launched in China and is on sale starting at CNY 1,469 or roughly PHP 11,800 for the 6GB+128GB variant when directly converted before taxes and other charges. No word yet if the device will also launch in the Philippines.
