realme 14 5G: Design and Construction

Our Mecha Silver unit has a metallic aesthetic with a grainy matte finish that hides fingerprints well. The realme 14 5G keeps things slim and light despite its gaming-ready focus, with a flat back and sides that help with grip during long play sessions.

The “Victory Halo” LED ring around the camera adds a pulse light effect that syncs with notifications and calls. While it’s a small touch, it gives the phone an identity that’s hard to miss. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner remains fast and reliable.

The right side has the power and lock button as well as the volume keys. They’re protruding and is easily reached with your hand.

At the bottom are the SIM and microSD tray slot, the microphone, the USB-C port, and a bottom-firing loudspeaker.

Up atop is a noise-cancelling microphone and a hole to amplify noise for the call speaker acting as loudspeaker.

realme has trimmed bezels on the front display, giving it a modern look. There’s still a noticeable chin, but it’s acceptable in its class. The 8-megapixel camera island stands out, but doesn’t make the phone wobble too much on flat surfaces.

Despite looking like a gaming phone, at least with our color variant that we have, realme still had parts of the phone sealed like the realme C75 and provided it with the same IP67/68/69 protection. This means that the phone can be used in freshwater adventures or even under the rain, but do note that everything should be in moderation and is not a guarantee that it will stay operational if used in wet areas for long periods of time.

realme 14 5G: Display and Audio

The display on the realme 14 5G is a 6.72-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1500Hz instantaneous touch sampling. The colors are vivid with decent contrast levels, though outdoor brightness can sometimes be a bit lacking under harsh sunlight.

It’s a strong display for its class, particularly for gaming and video playback. Touch responsiveness is excellent, especially in action games where rapid inputs matter. While it doesn’t support HDR, the viewing experience on platforms like YouTube and Netflix remains enjoyable.

Audio comes from a dual stereo speaker setup. It’s loud enough for indoor use, and stereo separation is better than mono setups found on other budget models. Bass is still shallow, but vocals and mids are clear. There’s no 3.5mm headphone jack, which may be a drawback for wired headset users.

realme 14 5G: Camera

The realme 14 5G carries a 50MP AI main shooter paired with a depth sensor. It doesn’t aim to compete with imaging powerhouses, but casual users will find it really capable for social media uploads and everyday documentation.

Daylight photos come out well-exposed with adequate sharpness, dynamic and realistic colors. HDR helps maintain detail in high-contrast scenes. In low light, results are passable but noisy. Night mode can brighten up the image slightly but also introduces some softness.

Portrait shots are decent, with okay edge detection and natural background blur. Selfies from the 8MP front camera are fine in most environments.

Video recording maxes out at 4K 30fps the rear and 1080p for the front. Stabilization is present with OIS, so your videos look smooth. Autofocus and exposure adjustments are reasonably quick during recording, too.

realme 14 5G: Performance

Under the hood, the realme 14 5G runs on a 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chip. This is paired with 8GB RAM (plus up to 10GB dynamic expansion) and 256GB of internal storage. The combination delivers smooth daily performance and can handle gaming well within its limitations.

realme UI 5.0 on Android 14 feels fluid and uncluttered. There’s still some pre-installed bloat that resembles our experience with OPPO phones, but it can be removed or disabled. The device is generally smooth and gives you options on customizing your notification drawer and

realme’s GT Boost suite includes features like AI Assist, Motion Assist, and improved touch response, all of which help with smoother gameplay and quicker input. These optimizations are noticeable, especially for competitive titles where reaction time matters.

Thermals are well managed thanks to a vapor chamber cooling system. On games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Honor of Kings, and Call of Duty: Mobile, frame rates remain stable on high settings and do not exceed 40 degrees thanks to its Bionic Vapor Cooling System. No wonder it’s been MLBB-certified for Malaysia’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Academy League Malaysia Season 3. I actually enjoyed playing here because touch controls are far better when in GT mode too.

For heavier, more graphically intense titles like Genshin Impact, it’s playable on high settings with fewer stutters using the GT Mode toggle. The device can push up to 90fps on FPS games and 120fps on MOBA titles that support high refresh rates.

Productivity-wise, you can never go wrong as well. We’ve had smooth experiences when using the phone, even when multitasking either on WiFi or on mobile data.

Connectivity is stable with support for 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The Antenna Array Matrix 2.0 tech helps keep the signal stable even when the phone is gripped during gameplay.

realme 14 5G: Battery and Charging

The realme 14 5G packs a 5000mAh battery that can last over a full day of regular use or a solid day with heavier gaming and content consumption. realme claims up to 1.1 days of use, which checks out in our testing. Screen-on-time averages between 6 to 7 hours depending on your mix of activities.

It supports 45W SUPERVOOC charging, which tops up the phone in just under 1 hour and 30 minutes. That’s not the fastest, but it’s safe and efficient. The battery is also optimized for long-term health, with realme saying it retains 80% capacity after up to 1,400 charge cycles or around four years of usage.

The Rundown

The realme 14 5G is built for those who really game, those who love some entertainment, and great connectivity on a budget. It brings a solid AMOLED display, decent stereo speakers, a good chip, and thoughtful features like GT Boost and vapor cooling into one package that will surely entice those who play long hours on their phones.
