HONOR appears to be gaining serious ground in the Philippine smartphone market, with new data showing the brand reaching a milestone in early 2026.

According to Omdia, HONOR captured 10% of smartphone shipments in the Philippines during the first quarter of 2026, meaning one in every 10 smartphones shipped in the country during the period carried the brand. The figure also marks HONOR’s entry into the country’s top five smartphone brands for the first time.

Why it Matters: The Philippine smartphone market has long been dominated by a handful of major players, making it difficult for newer challengers to break through. HONOR reaching the top five suggests the local market is becoming more competitive as buyer preferences continue to shift.

Omdia’s latest market report shows TRANSSION remained the Philippines’ top smartphone vendor in Q1 2026 with a commanding 37% market share. Samsung followed at 14%, Xiaomi at 12%, and OPPO at 11%, with HONOR taking fifth place at 10%. HONOR’s ascent to the top five has been driven by its strong campaigns centered around releases during this time, particularly the mid-range HONOR X9d 5G.

The Philippine milestone comes as Southeast Asia’s overall smartphone market has slowed. According to Omdia, regional shipments fell 9% year-on-year to 21.6 million units in the first quarter, down from 23.7 million in the same period last year.

Despite the decline in shipments, the broader regional market saw a leadership change. Samsung overtook OPPO to become Southeast Asia’s top smartphone brand, shipping 4.6 million units for a 21% market share. OPPO came in second with 4.2 million units and a 20% share, followed by Xiaomi at 17%.

Omdia said the slowdown reflects a shift in strategy among smartphone vendors, with brands focusing more on profitability than chasing raw shipment volume. Rising component costs and inflation have pushed vendors toward higher pricing, lifting average selling prices across the region even as shipment numbers declined.

For HONOR, however, the Philippine numbers suggest momentum in a market where competition remains fierce, and brand loyalty can be difficult to shift.

With one in 10 smartphone shipments now going to HONOR, can the brand climb even higher in the Philippines this year?
