LG expands LG Gaming Portal with new cloud and casual games for Smart TVs

LG Electronics is expanding its LG Gaming Portal, rolling out new game titles that can be played directly on LG Smart TVs without the need for consoles or external devices. The update adds more options across cloud-based, casual, and interactive games, reinforcing LG’s push toward device-free gaming on large screens.

Why it Matters: As smart TVs continue to evolve beyond video streaming, gaming is becoming a key part of the living room experience. Cloud-based and controller-free games lower the barrier to entry, making gaming more accessible to households without dedicated consoles or gaming PCs.

LG said the Gaming Portal now offers access to more than 4,000 cloud-based games and over 600 casual titles. All games are playable directly on LG Smart TVs, supported by LG’s webOS platform and partnerships with global game developers and publishers.

One of the latest additions to the Gaming Portal is Just Dance Now, which is now available on LG Smart TVs running webOS 22 or later in select markets including the United States, Australia, Sweden, and Norway. Wider availability across Europe is expected in the coming weeks. Through LG’s collaboration with Ubisoft, users can follow dance routines directly on their TVs without a console. Gameplay uses the LG Magic Remote’s motion-sensing technology to track movements, allowing users to dance solo or with others in the same room.

LG has also partnered with Volley, a developer known for voice-controlled games designed for smart TVs. Through this collaboration, LG Smart TV users in the United States can access voice-based games such as Jeopardy! and Song Quiz, a music trivia game. Volley’s games rely on voice input rather than traditional controllers, offering a more hands-free style of interaction in the living room.

For players looking for faster-paced gameplay, LG and Blacknut have introduced Asphalt Legends Unite on the Gaming Portal. The arcade racing title is available for free with ads in the United States. Players can access all cars and maps from the start, without in-game purchases. The game can be played using the TV remote, with directional keys used for steering and controls.

Another new title available through Blacknut is My Little Puppy, published by Krafton. The game follows the journey of a dog through themes of relationships, separation, and reunion. LG said the large-screen experience of its Smart TVs helps highlight the game’s environments and emotional storytelling.

To support more flexible gameplay, LG has introduced a Wi-Fi-based mobile gamepad app that allows smartphones to function as controllers. The LG Mobile Gamepad Wi-Fi app is available on both Android and iOS, enabling users to control supported games using their phones instead of the TV remote.

LG also added two award-winning titles from last year’s LG webOS Hackathon to the Gaming Portal. Quest of Sunflower, developed by Couchplay, won the grand prize and features AI-driven storytelling in a family-friendly adventure setting. Signs of Magic, created by Lukas Klingsbo, places players in a magical quest where the LG Magic Remote acts as a wand, using gesture controls for spellcasting and interactions.

LG said it will continue to expand the Gaming Portal with more titles and features as it grows its Smart TV gaming ecosystem. With more games moving to the cloud and fewer hardware requirements, could smart TVs become a primary gaming platform for casual players?
