Design and Construction
The POCO X8 Pro immediately feels more premium than many devices in its segment. The aluminum frame adds rigidity, while the glass or fiberglass rear panel contributes to a sturdy and refined feel. Build quality is excellent overall, and the addition of IP68 and IP69K ratings gives it durability credentials that are still uncommon in this price range.

Compared to earlier releases, this new yellow colorway is quite vibrant and distinct in a way that there are patterns laid all over the back to give the phone more character.

Despite housing a large battery, the device remains surprisingly manageable in hand. The 6.59-inch form factor strikes a good balance between screen size and comfort, making the phone easier to use than many larger competitors.

One of the more distinctive design elements is the RGB LED ring located on the rear panel. It can be customized for notifications and certain gaming scenarios, adding a bit of personality to the device. While visually appealing, its practical usefulness is limited. During gaming sessions, the lighting is effectively invisible because it faces away from the user.
The large camera module also creates a noticeable wobble whenever the phone is placed flat on a desk. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it is something you’ll notice regularly.
Display and Audio
The POCO X8 Pro’s display is one of its strongest features. The 1.5K AMOLED panel delivers sharp visuals, vibrant colors, and deep blacks that make everyday usage enjoyable. Text appears crisp, videos look detailed, and the high refresh rate keeps animations fluid.

Outdoor visibility is impressive thanks to the panel’s high brightness capabilities. Even under direct sunlight, the screen remains readable without requiring significant effort. Support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision further enhances streaming experiences on supported platforms.
POCO also includes high-frequency PWM dimming, which may help reduce eye strain for users sensitive to display flickering.
Gaming performance on the display is generally excellent, though HDR implementation can occasionally feel inconsistent in some demanding titles. Certain games do not appear fully optimized to take advantage of the panel’s HDR capabilities, resulting in visuals that can seem less impactful than expected.

Audio performance is solid. The dual stereo speakers get loud enough for videos, casual gaming, and media consumption without needing headphones. Stereo separation is respectable, helping create a wider soundstage.
The speakers are not perfect, however. At maximum volume, distortion can become noticeable, and bass response lacks the depth found on more premium devices. There’s no audio jack here too, so best work with an adapter for your wired audio, or listen with wireless ones via Bluetooth.
Camera
The camera system is built around a capable 50MP Sony sensor, and it performs well in favorable lighting conditions. Daylight images are detailed, sharp, and generally pleasing straight out of the camera.

One of the more impressive aspects is the 2x digital crop zoom. Unlike many mid-range smartphones that aggressively sharpen zoomed images, the POCO X8 Pro maintains a relatively natural look while preserving good detail.
The selfie camera also benefits from a wider field of view, making it easier to fit multiple people into group shots.
The weaknesses become more apparent when moving beyond the main sensor. The 8MP ultra-wide camera struggles to match the quality of the primary camera, showing lower detail levels and visible differences in color reproduction.
Low-light photography is similarly mixed. Images remain usable, but fine details often become soft, and overall sharpness can drop noticeably. Color processing can occasionally appear overly aggressive as well, particularly with greens, which may look more saturated than they should.
Video recording is another strength. The ability to shoot 4K at 60fps with optical image stabilization allows the device to capture smooth and stable footage that exceeds expectations for its category.
Performance (Software, Hardware, and Connectivity)
Performance is where the POCO X8 Pro truly separates itself from many similarly priced competitors.

The MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra delivers exceptional processing power for gaming, multitasking, and everyday productivity. Demanding games run smoothly, app launches are quick, and switching between multiple applications rarely causes slowdowns.
For users prioritizing raw performance, the X8 Pro is among the strongest options in its class.
Thermals are generally acceptable, though the phone can become noticeably warm during initial setup procedures, software updates, or extended gaming sessions. The heat is manageable but present.
On the software side, HyperOS 3 feels responsive and modern. Features such as Global Search and Hyper Island improve usability without dramatically changing the Android experience. POCO also promises long-term software support extending to 2032, which adds significant long-term value.
Unfortunately, the software experience is also one of the phone’s biggest frustrations. The device ships with a considerable amount of pre-installed applications, many of which most users will never need. In addition, promotional notifications and system ads require manual adjustment or removal to create a cleaner experience.
There’s also the fact that the phone’s software is quite half-baked. You can’t utilize NFC aside from payment via Google Pay, since the phone does not have a built-in wallet to store your door keys or access cards.
Connectivity remains dependable. Cellular reception is stable, and the inclusion of an IR blaster remains a useful feature for controlling compatible household appliances. eSIM functionality is not available, however, and the USB-C port is also limited to USB 2.0 speeds and does not support external display output.
Battery and Charging
Battery life is another standout feature. The large 6,500mAh battery consistently delivers excellent endurance. Moderate users can comfortably get through a full day, while lighter users may stretch usage into a second day. Even under demanding workloads involving gaming, social media, navigation, video streaming, and camera use, the phone remains reliable.

Charging is equally impressive. The 100W wired charging support allows users to quickly refill the battery and spend less time connected to a charger.
Wireless charging is absent, which may disappoint users looking for additional convenience. It’s also worth noting that thermal behavior and battery efficiency improve after several days of use as the system completes its initial optimization and calibration processes.
The Rundown
The POCO X8 Pro is for users who prioritize performance, battery life, and display quality above everything else.

Its strongest selling points are the powerful Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset, excellent AMOLED display, premium construction, long battery life, and lengthy software support commitment.
The compromises mainly come from the software experience, secondary cameras, and missing premium connectivity features.
The POCO X8 Pro is now available online at Shopee (Buy HERE), Lazada, and TikTok Shop with SRPs starting at PHP 21,999 (8GB/256GB), PHP 23,999 (12GB/256GB), and PHP 25,999 (12GB/512GB).
