Unboxing the package OPPO Philippines sent us had all of these inside: the phone itself, documents for the user guide and warranty, a SIM tray ejector,
The A57 was first released in 2017 and marketed as a selfie phone with a 16MP front camera and advanced camera features for a mid-range phone, and it was one of the first triple-SIM card slotted phones in its price range full with devices containing hybrid SIM cards at the time.
This time, it’s all about making the phone an all-around powerhouse with upgrades in most aspects. The device now sports a bigger display at a 6.56-inch HD+ display, with the call speaker at the top along with the 8-megapixel selfie camera at the waterfall notch.
The left side has the volume buttons and the SIM/microSD triple card slot, while the power/lock button is on the right.
The buttons offer a linear feel and protrude from the rather flat sides, sans the power/lock button that has a fingerprint scanner for added security.
At the bottom are the 3.5mm audio jack, the microphone, the USB Type-C port, and the bottom-firing loudspeakers.
Our unit is clad with a glowing green colorway, a glossy pale green color that shines brighter when light hits its polycarbonate surface. At the back, we have the two cameras and the LED flash in the protruding upper-left area, and the OPPO logo underneath.
If we’re comparing it to the A57 from a few years ago, this offers significant upgrades including a bigger 5000mAh battery and a MediaTek Helio G35 chip. The main selling point this time is multimedia consumption, as this device is one of the cheapest in the market to feature dual stereo speakers.
We’re taking the OPPO A57 2022, priced at PHP 8,999, for a full review in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for our full review.
