Converge leads PH fixed broadband rankings in nPerf’s 2026 report

Converge ICT emerged as the top-performing fixed broadband provider in the Philippines in nPerf’s latest annual network performance report, outperforming Globe Telecom and PLDT across most measured categories. The study covered fixed internet performance from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026 using millions of crowdsourced speed tests conducted through nPerf’s platform.

Why it matters: As internet access becomes increasingly essential for work, education, entertainment, and online services, independent network performance studies provide consumers with another way to compare internet providers beyond advertised speeds.

The details: Converge recorded the highest overall nPerf Score of 88,912, followed by Globe Telecom with 81,861 and PLDT with 77,341.

The provider also posted the fastest overall average download speed at 127.39 Mbps and upload speed at 117.10 Mbps. It delivered the lowest average latency at 50.12 milliseconds, along with the highest web browsing performance score of 57.92% and YouTube streaming score of 77.96%.

Globe Telecom finished second overall with average download speeds of 122.09 Mbps and upload speeds of 98.58 Mbps, while PLDT placed third with 99.55 Mbps download and 95.64 Mbps upload speeds.

The report also evaluated Wi-Fi and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) performance separately.

For Wi-Fi connections, Converge once again ranked first overall with an nPerf Score of 88,565. It led in upload speed, latency, and web browsing performance, while Globe posted the highest average Wi-Fi download speed by a narrow margin.

The FTTH category produced different results. Globe Telecom claimed the highest FTTH nPerf Score of 119,598, supported by average download speeds of 323.81 Mbps and upload speeds of 286.17 Mbps. Converge ranked second in the fiber category but maintained the lowest FTTH latency at 47.50 milliseconds, while PLDT finished third.

The bigger picture: The latest results show how competition among the country’s largest broadband providers has evolved beyond simple speed comparisons. While Converge maintained the strongest overall balance across download, upload, latency, browsing, and streaming performance, Globe demonstrated the fastest fiber network performance, highlighting continued investments in its FTTH infrastructure.

PLDT remained competitive in streaming quality but trailed the other two providers in several speed and latency metrics.

The report also observed that Converge’s strength lies in delivering consistently strong performance across different connection types, whereas Globe’s biggest advantage comes from its fiber network. It suggested that PLDT could improve future rankings by lowering latency and enhancing Wi-Fi and FTTH performance.

Between the lines: The rankings were based on crowdsourced tests performed through nPerf’s website and mobile applications. The study measured download speed, upload speed, latency, web browsing experience, and streaming quality, while considering both peak usage hours and off-peak periods to better reflect real-world customer experience.

Only national internet service providers representing at least 5% of total tests were included in the analysis.

For Filipinos: Although nationwide rankings provide a useful benchmark, actual internet performance still depends on several factors, including location, network congestion, subscribed plan, home networking equipment, and the availability of fiber infrastructure in specific areas.

Consumers may experience results that differ from national averages depending on these conditions.

What’s next: As broadband providers continue expanding fiber coverage and upgrading network infrastructure, competition is expected to focus not only on faster speeds but also on improving latency, reliability, and overall user experience across different connection types.

The Bottom Line: Converge retained the highest overall fixed broadband performance in nPerf’s latest Philippine rankings, while Globe stood out as the country’s top FTTH provider. The results underscore the growing competition among the Philippines’ major internet service providers as they continue investing in network improvements.
